The Dub proposal looks great; that section of downtown really needs something modern and striking and I think this hits on both. Those older concrete hulk buildings don't seem so dreary when abutted by new urban elements.

Hallsy's Toupee, thanks for posting the dub project.
I hope it moves forward. It would be a great addition to the area and skyline.
Nice to see something fresh.

How old is Dub? Hopefully he's around for many more years because he certainly seems to be a primary driving force in the Edmonton development community, for the better of course!

His son Michael works closely with him on many of these projects as well, so I wouldn't worry too much.

I assume Michael is older than Claire (went to school with Claire, never met Michael), which means he's not much older than me.

I like it.
The green wall between Edmonton Clinic and the parkade is DEAD. Seasonally vines were to spout leaves...but nothing has grown. So it looks like —. Green walls are seasonal in this climate, unless someone knows of a climbing evergreen....

Wow now that is something else. Not the greatest looking building but something completely different from the norm. Awesome.

One question I'll pose to Dub is if there's going to be any retail spaces. I personally would like a Macs and a drycleaner there.

Not in my backyard!!. If there is ANY retail in that spot - a swarm of people will arrive at City Hall in protest.

Otherwise the development has my support (and my groupies).

Ha ha, maybe I'll wander down that way tomorrow night. Thanks for the idea.

New life to rise from Kelly-Ramsey Block
By Bill Mah, Edmonton Journal March 30, 2012 7:42 AM

Plans are in the works to build a highrise hotel and office building at the site of the Kelly-Ramsey Block in downtown Edmonton, The Journal has learned.

The proposed development is described as 28 storeys high, with the top half being office space. A deal with a hotel for the site is in progress but not yet secured, says a source familiar with the project.

Day said Thursday he had nothing to announce publicly on any plans for the site yet.

"Until our deal is done, there really isn't anything for me to say on it," Day said.

A convenience store might be good, maybe on the NW corner of the project... from our place on 104th st it's a real pain to hike up the stairs at 11pm to the Macs' for milk or a deck of smokes....

From a source at AHS
After nearly 2 years since completion. The east Edmonton Heath Centre (Eastwood) will finally staff the acute care section of the facility. This will be more a family clinic, but it will finally be fully staffed.

^ Yes, we heard that from Brian Mason's office a few weeks ago. It's a really nice facility... great that the building will finally be better utilized.

Anybody know what went down in the government district around 6 this morning? cops were swarming ALL over. They kept slowing down to take a look at me...thankfully i didn't match the description of whoever they were looking for....but it was kinda frightening walking to the office knowing they were looking for somebody running around that area...
