Edit: Is that office building on the Austin Music Hall? That is what it sure looks like. Or it looks like something is build on top of the Music Hall. They aren't going to replace AMH I hope. I had just assumed it was not a part of all of this. That they were only redoing the treatment plant part.

Edit 2: Oh, never mind. I just looked at Google maps and forgot that the Extended 2nd Street will cut through this. So there will be a little area north of 2nd between 2nd and AMH where they can build that whatever it is on there. In the picture it is probably just blocking the view of the AMH.

Nice. I'd like to see them break ground soon... I have a feeling the Seaholm district will be flying with dirt this summer.

The plan also includes two condo towers (not shown in the rendering) to the left of 360. The original proposed development was better, but its good to see something move forward.

Agreed. I've just gotta say...compared to THE ORIGINAL DESIGN this rendering is dull as 🞵🞵🞵🞵. That's all. I'm not saying anything more. I like it. Fin.

^Yea, it looks pretty good, although it looks like the tallest tower will only be a little over 400 feet

. The original plan looked much better and included at least 2 towers that were over 600 feet. I don't understand why some projects put so much money into the original planning and then end up changing it so much. Could someone put up the old rendering to compare please?

No. Actually Constructive Ventures is the lead developer on the Austin Energy site. Trammell Crow has nothing to do with it anymore...as they separately negotiated development agreements with the COA.

I know. That was stated in the article. The fact that two condo towers are planned and not that it's another developer was what I was referring to.

Original. As far as the shorter nighttime design...They need to release more renders. I wanna see specific details of these current twin towers.

the original looked TONS more interesting. Argh. No more Green roofs? Less variety. Building block design. Cheaper to build? Meh.

and to think that even the original renders weren't all that impressive. i remember thinking that i was just going to wait for an updated render, because i was sure it would look better. but its actually worse than the original renders. its the taller towers that i do mind, but the shorter ones especially built on west campus, i don't mind if they look generic. but not these.... not the ones in downtown. i hope it turns out like another mariott render where it went from terrible to fantastic. these aren't terrible but not at all what i was expecting, especially considering the long wait.

Yea I really hope we see updated and better renderings. I am not fond of those blocky towers, and we will see how tall they will end up, they said 30 floors at least so they could easily be taller, Im assuming depending on market demand at the time of groundbreaking.

They're just clunky and depressing. There is NOTHING memorable about this design....I really hope they update this, because it is extremely pedestrian. I wouldn't mind something awesome blocking my building along the skyline....but this....

Maybe this is what the guy was talking about with the twin austonian.... maybe he was confused...
I swear that guy told me "twin Austonian"... this HAS to be what the person was talking about... how the hell does someone confuse these towers with something as large as the austonian? The guy who told me about the twin austonians said he was told by developer that they'd be hiring his company for eletrical work....

I like the tops of these towers, and maybe they'll add more height.... I predict they'll be about as tall as Spring....

Sorry to those who are not fond of this but I happen to think this is a seriously cool design...the original rendering had a bit of an amateurish "Sim-City" appearance that made it very hard to visualize. This seems a bit more realistic and I can actually picture an Austin skyline like this. The density will be unprecedented and the way the towers are built right up to Cesar Chavez is very reminiscent of the environment of New York's West Side Highway. Loving every minute of it

I may very well be moving to Austin in the near future so I look forward to watching these and all the other new planned towers grow in the near future.

When they said they were "scaling it back" I didn't realize that meant creating something that A. Looks like a trendy box B. Isn't timeless C. Doesn't have a green-roof. oops. I'm sorry, I'll be very happy to see this finally break ground...but I do hope they make some improvements...This isn't just a filler block, it's a new piece of our skyline.

It's as if Trammell Crow pulled a bait and switch. Their original plan seemed to be the grandest vision of all the proposals, and they won the support of the city council for it. Their new proposal definitely fits better with West Campus than Downtown.
