I was trying to remember the name of that building too. 60 Colborne looks awesome. That fenestration is exactly what I've been waiting for this whole building cycle. It's about time!

Looks like it came from early 90s Richmond. Hopefully this is in suburban Victoria and not downtown.

It's still fairly inner-city, though it is right across from the largest mall in the city and beside the future LRT line.

Yorkville Residence on Davenport Road between Bay Street and Yonge Street. Site prep is complete and excavation should begin shortly (31 floors, 106.5m).

that G & M building is way too interesting to be a KPMB design....they are trying hard to be scandinavian....not quite there but at least they are trying....not as chunky as their typical work.

the MPI President today said that they have all of the submissions (the door has closed for new ones) but that they are very early in the selection process, and it could be some time before we see a winner.

St. John's seems to have missed the architectural growing pains that Halifax was stuck in until recently and gone straight for good designs.

Looks fundamentally very similar to this, proposed for North End Halifax:

According to a local new source, excavation work is about to begin for a new convention centre, hotel, and office complex in Halifax. The image below shows the rendering and the context for the site. It's an interesting spot just outside the old conventional "CBD" area of office towers, and is currently one of the biggest holes downtown. I think it, along with the library, will make downtown Halifax feel much bigger and tie together the old downtown and Spring Garden Road districts:

One interesting element of the design is the canopy over Grafton Street, which is a lot like the canopy over Pike Street that was built as part of Seattle's convention centre. Hopefully the Halifax version will be more successful and will become an integrated part of the (informal) entertainment district nearby.

That block bounded by Grafton, Blowers, Market, and Sackville will likely be the next block to get developed. It's really a dead block.

I've also heard talk about expanding the Metro Centre. I'm assuming that's just talk as the Metro Centre rarely sells out. If anything, a more compact 7,000 seat arena would be better. The seats in the lower bowl are too far away for basketball. A steeper gradient in the hockey configuration would make for a better facility when converted for basketball.
