I like the design, but I really think the skyline will be a little disjointed once all these tall buildings are built West of the ESB. If they could build a few tall ones East of ESB around 32nd-35th streets, I'd be happier.

I'd be pretty even. The East Side will have a 1,400 footer, and many taller building thanks to rezoning. The West Side will have (you know the rest).

Love this project! It will be great for the Westside, The King of all Buildings (Empire State Building) still will always be the king of skyscrapers at least in my heart, and yes unrelated I also love 1 World Trade Center just as much.

I meant on the same East/West Axis as the ESB. There is little of height to the East of it. Citicorp, the Chrysler Building, Trump, etc. are all further up.

It doesn't really matter. The skyline and towers will be viewed from so many different places and angles, there is no one perfect view to define it.

From that ariel rendering it looks to be that the fountain was minimized in size, not removed altogether.

All you have to do is walk through the rest of the park, aka Hudson Boulevard to see more fountains. That particular one was nice, but when the City talks of revitalizing the west side, I don't think anyone's talking about fountains.

A mod should change the title to 59 and 68 floors

I'm also upset that we lost the domed winter garden from the first mall design.

First the AMAZING MODERN fountain is DROPPED (—!), now the mall has become generic cookie cutter Asian vertical tripe. They should have kept the first mall with the later towers. Oh well

makes sense most of the buildings circle the perimeter of the railyard. its just wild thinking about all this development getting propped up over the yard. what a project - what may seem to be the bedrock under the city is deceiving and is turning into more and more swiss cheese!

Speak for yourself. Whether you're viewing Midtown from a Williamsburg rooftop or a Jersey City one, the imbalance will be noticeable.

I'm not saying I object to these tall buildings sprouting on the West Side, I welcome them in fact. I'm just saying that I'd like to see some taller buildings to the East to balance it out. Seeing the EBS flanked by supertalls would be superior in my mind.
