As someone who worked his way through post-secondary in restaurants many moons ago I can tell you the chain restaurants are almost always cleaner and more sanitary than the others. Sorry but it's true.

Dear Great Friends of d’Lish,

It is with a tremendously heavy heart that I have had to make the extremely difficult decision to close d’Lish permanently, halting all services effective today, Tuesday March 13, 2012.

I have struggled since re-building what is now a very successful business on the financial grave of an unsuccessful one, which was the first incarnation of d’Lish. In an effort to forge ahead, my finances, my family, and my health have all been severely compromised.

Although business at d’Lish is the best it’s ever been, it has very recently come to the point where it is no longer sustainable to continue operations. Creating d’Lish on the foundations of its former incarnation led to this moment. This has been definitely been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but it is without a doubt, the right one.

I want to thank each and every one of you who have come through our doors, supporting us through this very worthwhile journey. You have been instrumental in helping to elevate the beauty and profile of local foods and other local businesses here in our community. Your patronage, energy, and passion for local will be sorely missed.

Which makes sense as where there is more money and more pressure, there is going to be more effort to keep it clean.

The Bothy is opening on 124th St - apparently it's where The Common used to be.

I'm kinda meh on this.
They're going into a location where it has seemingly changed hands 3 or 4 times in the past few years, so I question if a bar is even viable there. Moreover, I would think The Bothy in the financial district would be a license to print money.

A Bothy walking/stumbling distance from my pad... best news I've heard all year. So for selfish reasons I'm thrilled about the location.

Just had two Arepas (pulled pork/salsa verde) and some cream of garlic soup from Transcend. So good.

Crazy busy in there today.

Hey guys...

Looking for a suggestion for somewhere nice to take a first date for an early (5-6:00) dinner next Saturday, downtownish area. We are out and about prior, and have no firm time set so a place that doesn't require a reso. Also, she is vegetarian and I am not, so a place that will satisfy us both is welcome...

Price was quite good as well. Appis, dinner, desserts and a bottle of wine was about 180.00 for the 2 of us. which is about standard. Happy that I made it home in time to make the reservation. We will head back again.

Looks like they are redoing the kitchen, or at least replacing some of the equipment. Dumpster is full. Lets hope there is some good beer on tap, the deck will be nice after work.
