Congrats to you guys, Regina seems like a little powerhouse!
Regina metro is only at ~220k (city 200k), so I think Windsor is still a fair bit bigger no? And as long as the city council continues to force large office projects to be downtown, we should be fine.

2006 Census had Windsor @ 216,473

2011 Census has Windsor @ 210,891

Yes we lost around 6,000 people due to out migration because of a poor economy. The automotive sector in Windsor has effectively collapsed except for 1 assembly that is left. The long standing brand of 'Automotive Capital of Canada' is no more, we are now surpassed by Oshawa.

So typical story in North America right now, manufacturing centres are struggling while regions that are commodity based are surging.

Ya, I know, I live here. The actual city's population though has shrunk, see the numbers posted above.

2006 Census had Windsor @ 216,473
2011 Census has Windsor @ 210,891

Even Essex County's population dropped by 5,000 from 393,402 in 2006 to 388,782 in 2011.

Windsor's CMA 2006 323,342
Windsor's CMA 2011 319,246

Anyways..

Go Regina?

Edit: I see what you're saying, Regina's population and CMA are smaller than I thought. I thought the actual city proper was ~220k, but your CMA is ~220k. Well, that proves the point even further that Regina is has a very impressive skyline for it's size! --See earlier comment as referenced against Windsor and it's skyline.

Good job Regina.

And a shot of the podium...the glass is neat at street level the way it jutts in and out.

When viewed form the tall buildings to the west you can clearly see the new steel framing poking above the twins. It is more than a sign. From the west at least it will appear as full glassed-in floors of the building.

The are continuing to install the steel framing today.

From my 9th floor apartment 5 blocks to the south-west it is clear that the structural steel that will support the curtainwall is around 3 metres higher than Towers I and II. I will try to attach a photo I just took but for some reason I have trouble attaching my Flikr photos to this site. [img]http://www.flickr.com/photos/14164317@N04/6947306805/[img]

'Til then, the link works fine. Great shot, and the others too! If there's a matching pop up on the North side, the top will look like a '59 Cadillac. Or does the extension go all the way across the West side? Cool either way!

From this sunroof vantage point you can see that the slant continues up the 2 story pop up.

It looks like they are assembling 2 storeys of metal structure to go above the concrete structure. These extra storeys top out below the angular parapet structure. From higher up (sorry I have no pictures), the extra 2 storeys definitely takes it above the twins. It's not very visible in these pics, but you can see a little bit of it at least... Looks like the concrete structure in the middle and the huge air conditioning systems will be hidden from view afterall.

Is the fin only going on one side of the building? I'd hope not.

good lol. I only asked cause in those pics just previous, it looks like they're only putting up the metal frame on one side.

By both sides, he means the entire west side.

From the looks of it the steel structure will extend up 2 floors all the way around with the parapets (assuming there is a second) peaking out an extra metre.

Maybe that's a bit of wishful thinking though.

I think it just wraps around the west side and a bit of the north and south:

Ah, you're right... Looks like the cement cube on top may not be hidden from the east then.
