You almost got the pics to work. You can't include the url tag, just paste the http:// link in the box after you click the post picture icon.

for example you posted

[IMG][ url] http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii581/Riversideguy1/Picture018.jpg[/ url] [/IMG] ( I put spaces in the url tag to make them show)

Anyways, make sure those url tags are not included and that it's just the http link between the image tags and you'll be ok.

Took a few photos today while out for a walk downtown. The sun was setting so the photos aren't the best.

The gutting of the Palace. They haven't actually gotten to taking the exterior of the building off yet. I'm excited to see what the new Windsor Star headquarters will look like with glass instead of that tired pink stucco.

Some pictures of the site of the aquatic centre. Chatham and Pitt streets are closed off and the entire site is now fenced in.

Thanks, much of what is happening in the city has to do with our amazing mayor that We've had for the last 8 years. He's completely changed the way the city does business, and has achieved the almost impossible, increasing services and money spent on intrastructure, paying down the debt significantly, increasing reserves, instituting a pay as you go system, with no more borrowing for major and all city projects and developements, like the Aquatic Centre, and freezing taxes for the last 4 years, all while the city's tax base was being decimated by the recent recession and unemployment peaked at 15%. Pretty amazing accomplishment if you ask me. Most cities can't even accomplish this when things are going well.

Next Dimension Inc., Southwestern Ontario’s largest IT service provider, is set to call the old DriveMax building on Devon Drive home.

Next Dimension has been located at 3290 Jefferson Blvd. for the past 10 years. The company currently holds 8,000 square feet of office space compared to the new facility holding 10,000 square feet.

President and CEO, Adam Davis, sees the new building as a unique space that provides a new atmosphere where the staff can be on one floor rather than scattered amongst two floors at the current location.

Next Dimension specializes in backup and disaster recovery, collaboration and productivity, connectivity, security and many other tech-based services.

“Originally we wanted to build a building, but then we came across the DriveMax facility we felt the property was unique and we were looking for something unique,” said Davis. “It’s all glass and you get direct sunlight all the time.”

The old showroom is set to be a workspace for employees. Davis enjoys the open concept idea saying that it will allow employees to better collaborate and communicate.

“The building’s got a couple of things that are really cool for us. There’s 5,000 square feet of covered patio which makes it really unique when hosting events with our customers,” said Davis. “The bay doors for the cars also offers the chance to get some fresh air in the building during the spring and summer which offers a change from constantly using air conditioning.”

With the larger facility, Davis sees the space at the DriveMax building being better utilized leaving more flexibility for not only workers and hardware but for customers as well.

“The new space gives us the ability to bring customers in to the environment more often. Here we have a small room that can accommodate 15 or 20 people at a time for different events,” said Davis. “The new facility gives us a training facility that we can bring 40 or 50 people in to the environment. The additional space for a new high-end server room allows us to give better demos in a real-world environment rather than on a projector.”

The building is to be painted corporate blue and branded with logos and a signage structure is to be built. The possible addition of a 30-foot digital sign remains to be considered.

Next Dimension’s move-in date is set for March 31.

Too bad they couldn't find a location in the core closer to some of the other tech companies, our downtown could use more of these types of workers.

I just realized something... No one has commented in any thread in the Waterloo section since February fourth (I was the one who commented Feb. 4... and also just posted a nearly identical comment tonight) but yet Waterloo has a thread... and even though Windsor's construction page gets multiple posts per day on a consistent basis... they don't have their own thread?

What the hell?

It would be great for Windsor to have it's own thread. I'm not really sure how one goes about getting one, but hopefully we'll have one soon, there seems to be enough interest to support one.

There are also 2 large road construction projects starting at this time. One is the widening of Walker road between the expressway to Cabana. The road will be widened with a much needed left turning lane in the middle of the roadway and sidewalks finally. Relocation of utility poles along Walker has been going on for a few weeks now.

The second big road project to start is the widening and upgrading of the intersection at Provincial and Cabana roads. The current set up is much like a county road intersection and will be brought up to city standards.

No photos for either project at this time.

We talked about this issue about 2 months ago. With construciton revving up in Windsor there will definately be more posts and pictures. It would be great if we could get our own subsection. I would also be great if we could get more people posting, or more Windsorites. I know there are a few lurkers and they show up from time to time.

Took a few pictures of the aquatic centre construction site from the top of the 10 storey parking deck next to the bus station.

You can see the 2 roads that have been cut off permanently for this project.
