Looks as though the decision on the Monaco may be put off for a bit:

'Monaco' project proposed for the corner of Doyle Avenue and St. Paul Street would include two towers, both higher than the base level of 14 storeys.

One tower would rise 26 storeys, the other 23 storeys. That works out to 21 additional storeys between the two towers.

Developer Premier Pacific has amended its proposal to the city to equal an amenity contribution made by the developers of 24, a 24 storey development proposed for Bernard Avenue.

"We wish to amend the Monaco application report as Premier Pacific will be amending the proposal to offer identical contribution as I estimate it to be by Aquillini (24 developer)," says New Town Architecture VP, Keith Funk.

Namely, Aquillini is receiving height variance support for a contribution of $805,000 for the additional 13 storeys or $62,000 a storey. This gift is further subdivided between a contribution to the Affordable Housing Reserve Fund (20%) and the Downtown Amenity Fund (80%)."

Council will discuss the amenity package when it meets Monday afternoon.

Meantime, Premier Pacific is also asking that a council decision on its Development Permit and Development Variance Permit applications set to be made Tuesday night be put off for a month.

Staff is recommending council not approve a Development Permit or a series of seven Development Variance Permits concerning height, incline angles, setbacks and floor plate area.

Opponents of the plan believe the variances being requested by the developer are too excessive.

Aquilini's project "24' is now on the Agenda for Kelowna City Council for March 6 to get the development permit reissued. The development permit that had been approved in April 2009 lapsed, so they are going back to council to get a new one. CEI Architecture's website has a completion date of May 2014 for this project.

This item and the Monaco development permit would've been on the agenda for the same day, but now it sounds like the Monaco development permit will be delayed (as the poster above stated).

Landmark VI. will be a nice addition to the skyline. Hope both "24" and the
Monaco get passed by city council. Anyone know whatever happened to the
proposal for the old K.S.S. site?

At this evenings council meeting the Aquilini development "24" had its development permit and development variance permits passed again. The vote was unanimous.

And for Monaco, the fourth and final reading of the rezoning bylaw was passed, but the development permit and development variance permits were delayed until April 3.

Awesome updates guys, would be great to see 24 and monaco u/c in Kelowna, along with Landmark 6 it would start to have an impressive skyline for its metro size IMO.

Also, I don't know what you mean about taking the shoreline back, pictured above it the only part of the Kelowna shoreline that isn't beach essentially. I think the loss of jobs from removing such facilities would damage Kelowna's economy horribly. Every city needs an industrial district, and unfortunately no lumber company these days seems to build new facilities, and if an old one is closed or burns down they seem to be never re-built. Sucks.

As it is, they've downsized about 50% since it was Crown Zellerbach
in the 80's.

Would a nice Kelownan with a nice shot of the skyline be able to upload one of their skyline shots to the Kelowna wikipedia page?

I would appreciate it so that I could include it in Kelowna's ''list of tallest buildings" page. Thank you!

I'll see what I can do! But it might be nice to wait til spring when the trees are in bloom.
