Edmonton and Vancouver will get a dose of Americana chic this spring, as iconic retailer J. Crew is set to open two new stores in the Canadian cities.
Following on the heels of the brand’s first Canadian store – which opened to much fanfare in Toronto’s Yorkdale Mall last August – a two-floor, 5,953-square-foot Vancouver outpost is planned for Robson Street, while the single-floor, 5,657-square-foot Edmonton store will be located in the West Edmonton Mall. (A second Toronto location is planned for this fall, to be housed in the Eaton Centre.)
The renovations on the Bay's basement level which was supposed to start in March have been postponed. Seems the tenants were none to thrilled about being given only a month to vacate. After hiring a lawyer the result is a now a May start. Food will still be available beside Topman/Topshop. It'll be moved along the length of the Skytrain corridor with a row of bar height counter and stools gazing at the hurried crowd.

that social housing place on pender and abbot - the space next to the tim hortons is empty and for lease, the space next to that seems to be some kind of curry place said to be opening soon and the space next to that says its leased - so 3 out of the 4 retail spots are taken now
I can vouch. Incredibly delicious donuts. They sell out all the time, so get there early. 3 bucks a pop. The lease is apparently for 6 months, but given the line ups I'm sure they will find a permanent location.
The pricing is wrong. You can’t price them like cupcakes- the pricing, and crappy quality, is why the cupcake fad is almost gone. There is a place north of Seattle in Mill Creek called Frost - they do the gourmet donuts thing much like this new place. They are really good, but the reason why they will stick around is that they are around $1.50 each...$3 is way too much.
At $3 I would try once or twice, at $1.50 at Fost I make a point of heading off the I-5 to Mill Creek on my way to Seattle to pick up a half dozen for the rest of the trip.
thats where its happenning, that seagull place, boneta, save on meats, acme cafe, etc etc food places are popping up like crazy down there and they are all popular and busy
there was some controversy about big city cupcakes - it was offered as a franchise and the person took peoples money and the franchisees didn't make much money, not so much a dying fad so much as a crooked business offering
Not totally retail but the corner at robson and cambie in raffles where pure coffee shop was is going to be a medical walk in clinic. There's pharmasve signs there so I'm guessing it wil tie in with pharmasave next door.
