Haha.....Shes talented for sure. But dam....Image is everything! Hair...clothes and over all appearance she has to work on. We are all constantly in a state of improvement.

When she takes pride in her appearance, Krushell's a reasonably attractive lady (in a soccer-mom-next-door kinda way). And like it or not, appearance does count as much as policy when you're in the Mayor's chair and you are the elected leader of Canada's 5th largest city.

But yeah, Kim is also my choice to succeed Mandel. I don't agree with her on everything...she's voted against the Indy, for instance...but she seems closest to Mandel in terms of long-term big city vision balanced with fiscal prudence and common sense.

Going up in Calgary...would kill for something like this here. Maybe smaller twinned versions on the 104st / 102ave corner. Or scrap the twin idea, and just put one larger tower like this there. So sexy.

Don is a fiscal conservative and is more practical, but also very forthright and forward looking.

Wasn't Mandel just the same type of politician in Ward 1 prior to becoming Mayor?

We need someone who can maintain, or even increase, the momentum here.

Perhaps getting a new Mayor is a good thing, and bring some fresh ideas into the city. Regardless of how good a mayor is, being in office for too long can create complacency.

Mandel has done an awesome job, but his time has come and it would be good to see a new Mayor!

the last thing I'd like to see is Mandel up against Don or Kim. It could split the city building vote, and you'd be left with Dorward, or his ideological similar, becoming mayor.

Don won't run against Mandel. Perhaps the same for Kim. Mandel is likely done after this term and might move on to other things.

And Don isn't a 'no-spend' fiscal conservative that some of you are painting him to be. He is easily one of the smartest and most progressive councillors on council, and aside from objecting to components of the arena plan, doesn't fit the glove you are knitting for him. The media has often called him the 'greenest' councillor, and the 'most left leaning' councillor, but he doesn't fit those gloves as easily either. Don also said he was taking time to consider if this was his last term in politics as he wanted to spend more time with his family. Whether or not that is a political ruse, I'm not sure.

That being said, would he make a great mayor akin to Nenshi? I don't doubt it.

I have known Don since High School and he is a great guy through and through. He would make an excellent Mayor and while young, he has a lot of political experience.

He isnt cheap, he just wants to justify expenditures. Similar to his stance on the rink... he is not anti rink, but rather just thought the deal was not as good as it could have been hence his reluctance to support.

But with that said, he is creative, imaginative, balanced and GREEN. I suspect transit and bikeways would see a lot of attention... a very good thing for this city.
