It will fit, but it will add nothing to the skyline. Look closely at that photo. Its top will succeed only in solidifying a flat horizontal plane with the tops of (to the left) Park Place, 5 Bentall Centre, Fairmont Pacific Rim and (to the right) Royal Centre, Shaw Tower, and 4 Bentall Centre. If you threw a massive table cloth over that section of the city, a family of giants could sit down to a very pleasant dinner.

Of course, we have discussed this before, to no avail. You believe having 1021 Hastings remain the same height as every other tower around is superior to having that beautiful, one-of-a-kind tower soar above the herd and create a truly interesting and dynamic skyline.

Wow Brizzy...nice Winnipeg shots. Looks pretty impressive from up there.

Pretty impressive considering how much the population gaps are in Winnipeg relative to other larger centers (~35k less than QC, ~429k less than Edmonton and between ~506k and ~484k less than Ottawa and Calgary respectively) not too shabby in the skyline department for Peg city.

Really digging the Vancouver shots, always nice to see Calgary, I liked that London shot too. Also Toronto has some sweet ones on the last page too.


Really would like to see more of Ottawa....that density man hot damn. One thing I miss about Ottawa is the dense downtown core.

I'd say Four Seasons has the better cladding. Shangri-la pretty much just took the glass from the Vancouver version and put it on a chunkier, less-elegant massing. Plus the glass on FS looks flatter so far, on every photo

I do like the crystal like angular cuts on the east side of SL, they make all the difference for me. The west side is dull.

Because of it's geography,Ottawa is tough to get decent pics as you are probablly aware..Unless you are in a building, or on the Gatineau side it's hard to get a good angle.Having said that,on Tuesday I'm working in an area that has a nice angle of some of downtown, so I'll bring my camera.

I'm not sure if it's better cladding, but the finished result does look better on 4 Seasons. I think Shangri-La is a bit to large for the curtain-wall they chose. It's a little on the dull side.

Bigger City, Bigger Hotel. Not much we can do about that now.

Anyways, I've stated many times in the top constructor threads that Shangrila has office tower proportions. And while the Vancouver tower is nice, it's svelt profile would disappear within the large and getting larger Toronto skyline.

IMO: SLT > SLV

I would love to ad Vancouver's Shangri-La to our skyline, other then our version and Aura most of our towers are getting thinner.

Actually I find the angular cuts rather cosmetic.
