CTV News is reporting the possibility of a racino attached to the stadium, the story should be on in a few minutes.

The 6 expressions of interest include:

3 for naming and sponsorship of the stadium.

3 for FULL partners with the HRM in a stadium.

This is awesome news.

What rendering are they using in the CTV story with the red seats?

This is all very good news for Halifax. I'm curious as to who these sponsors could be (particularly the full sponsors) and how the Racino would play into the design and usage of the stadium land.

Exciting! Quite a bit of interest!
The CTV News video clip mentioned Shannon Park a few times -- along with Truro as a possible location for a Racino, at least in terms of the current focus of the first nations bands.

The current bid does not have a location attached to it.
Here's hoping these possible partnerships brings a focus to Shannon Park as the best choice! I would gladly eat my words of FIFA's likely death.

That rendering sure looks like one of Fenwick's! Am I right?
At the very least it was definitely made with the same software.

That is Fenwicks design, from the cool roof panels, to it being on Feniwcks favourite corner, beside the superstore off Windsor.

Great news. It is hard to believe that my hobby 3D stadium model made it to CTV news. (my Sketchup skills have improved somewhat since then; I made that almost a year and a half ago).

I just hope that people who are watching the CTV news clip are informed that it was just drawn for fun (and a far-fetched hope that Halifax would eventually build a stadium).

PS: If Mayor Kelly can get funding partners for a stadium then he will have made a believer out of me and many others.

.

Great news to hear about the stadium partners, let's hope they're for real.

Unfortunately, time may have run out on being ready in time for FIFA. Do you think it still goes ahead without the WWC?

Halifax should proceed with a stadium regardless of the Womens World Cup. In fact, you might end up with a better product if you were freed from the time constraints of having to have it prepared in such short order....

I thought this one was dead in the water for sure. It's great to see some potential sponsorships and partners coming forward!

I just checked the halifax.ca website and the deadline for the Request for Expressions of Interest # E12-007 for Partnership Opportunities Multi-Use Stadium was yesterday (February 17th).

Details on the bids will be kept confidential until one is selected (source: http://www.gov.ns.ca/tenders/pt_files/addendums/E12-007.pdf). Hopefully one will be selected fairly quickly so that we can get some more details.

I wonder if any of the partners or sponsors could be Irving Shipbuilding?

According to a poster on CFL.ca, the other two potential partners are the universities. If true, I wonder if this could help open up federal funding.
A rally might help the pro-stadium cause at this point. Use the media to invite anybody who is either involved in, or a fan of football or soccer to a rally at the provincial legislature. It could act as a focal point to demonstrate public support for a stadium. It would undoubtedly receive media exposure, and if successful, might sway any politicians that are undecided in their support. Invite pro-stadium politicians like Peter Kelly and Peter MacKay to speak. Try to re-create what happened in Winnipeg, where many people thought the NHL would never return. Play up the underdog angle, as many people love to support someone fighting against the odds.

If true, this may speak volumes as to the location of the stadium
