There is a Cressy sign at the Ridge shopping centre @ W 16th & Arbutus
specifically on the big main unit that has been a Buy Low Foods, then Meinhardt, then an election centre.

I think I mentioned drilling for soil samples at the northern end of the parking lots sometime last year.

Will the entire block be demolished? Even the bowling alley?

I didn't see any development/rezoning notice boards, or a project name... for all I know it could just be a sales centre for another project.

I do know the bowling alley, and theatre do slower business than they once did (the theatre almost closed a couple times?) The hardware store has a closing sale. So it wouldn't be surprising, especially with the recent success and progression of nearby developments, but I didn't see any confirmation that a project is imminent. Just one more hint

Malcolm Parry talks about Bosa:

Bosa Properties' same-value but still-unnamed 90-unit building at Main and Terminal will also go ahead under the city's Short Term Incentive for Rental (STIR) program. More conventionally the firm has a Main and Georgia site for a 150-unit tower that will face a 17-floor, mixed-use development by Ian Gillespie's Westbank Projects Corp

The DPB Agenda also lists:

189 Keefer Street (at Main) - Solterra Development Corp. - 10 storey mixed use (1st floor retail) - 81 residential units
138 East Hastings - Studio One - 6 storey mixed use (old Pantages site) - 97 residential units

Does this seem a bit low to anybody else? Considering it'll be right across the street from Westbank's 17 storey tower?

Regardless, good to see the proposals start to come in for Chinatown.

Residential Development, 5-Storey (4837 CAMBIE ST)

City Contact: Grant Miller 604.873.7484 [email protected]
Applicant Contact: Benn Duffell Mosaic Avenue Homes 604.685.3888
Project: 5979 Proposed

New proposal along the Cambie corridor. I'm disappointed it's only 5 stories when I believe 6 stories are allowed. This site is consists of two lots between 32 and 33 Ave; it is sandwiched between the Art Cowie townhomes on 33rd ave and another lot on 32nd ave. I'm guessing it's only 5 stories to scale down to the Art Cowie townhomes.

It was tempting to make the BIG proposal the latest RenderPornStar but you never know what the DRP will do to it before it launches...hence I've made that other new Westbank project in Marpole the star of the week. It's an attractive project, but obviously nothing compares to mr BIG.

It's good to see some movement on sales centres for Mechannica and Lido. I know it is going to take years for that end of SEFC to fill in but it's nice to see it start. It's unfortunate that only Central has any meaningful employment space, as opposed to minor ground floor retail in Lido and nothing (to the best of my knowledge) in Mechannica. The unfortunate reality is that all this development will likely mean a net loss in employment in the area. I certainly hope that the large site opposite Main Street SkyTrain Station has a significant employment component to its program.
I'm hoping the Concert lot, or the other Onni spot has more commercial space. Still feels very lacking in the area as whole.

Sidenote: District is finished and completion notices have gone out; not sure if already mentioned in here. I should be moving into my own spot there this week, and will add some pics of the finished building.

I now have my first neighbour facing me in the south building. I wondering when they'd get the go ahead. should interesting to see how the area shapes up with the add people. if the city actually go ahead with the Quebec kingsway connector, this side of main could turn into a very funky pedestrian friendly strip. definitely looking forward to the continued infill.

Thank you for the update.

It is surprisingly short for such a major commercial street, transit corridor and future location of a subway station. I think the future will show this site was greatly under-utilized.

I disagree, I think this project is what the future looks like for Vancouver. We're going to see a wave of projects just like this across the city over the next decade. It carries as much density as most point towers but in a much more neighbourhood friendly massing. The Broadway corridor already justifies RRT today, each and every new development just adds to it.

So this is the Transit Oriented Development of the future on a major commercial corridor and arterial roadway? As I said, the short-sightedness is bewildering.

When I walk through the olympic village it seems so dark with the buildings creating too much of a canyon effect. Point towers with a 2 story podium may be unfashionable now, but if they were implemented at OV it would definitely be a lot brighter around there. The density may be the same, but you create darker streets. That's my opinion anyway.

This project fronts Broadway which is significantly wider then any road in the OV allowing light to reach the opposite sidewalk. It's also only 7 stories as opposed to OV where we are seeing up to 12 even 15 storeys now. Not every station needs to be a TOD mega centre like Marine Gateway, TODs come in all shapes and forms, this is a good one as is the tower proposed for Oak and Broadway. Personally I feel the density is more successful at Broadway and Cambie then it will be at Marine Gateway.

i like this one as is - but i think a few towers along that section of broadway (west of burrard) should be popped in here and there
