Definitely. Wood is used a lot in lieu of concrete because of its ability to move in quakes.
But I was thinking more about crawl spaces instead of basements, half basements rather than full basements, lack of insulation and storm windows, etc. In addition, lots of interaction between outdoors and indoors through glass doors and windows...........something I liked a lot but you would rarely see in much colder climates.
