A number of visitors to our city mention that Toronto looks so huge in photos, but far less imposing in person. I know what they mean. At many intersections downtown you're surrounded by 2-5 floor buildings. Yonge Street really doesn't make one feel that you're in one of the biggest skyscraper cities in the world unless you're south of Dundas.

Buildings like AURA will go a long way to altering the feel of downtown. We just need another 30 buildings this scale.

i have a strong feeling this will be the most spectacular skyscraper ever built in Toronto. ever. that's just the way i feel about this building. even though there has not been nearly enough done to make that statement, i just know that it has all the right elements already in place for this to happen. i was finally convinced when i seen the glass and i new then that they never blew it. haha. because with that glass being up to par, the rest is just natural. the building will rise and you will see what i have foreseen. a skyline owning skyscraper that everyone will agree, is Toronto's finest.

Looking at the incomplete College Park makes me wonder how amazing this stretch would been had the original proposal been built in all its art deco glory. To think, the largest building in north america would have proudly towered above little Toronto.

The 60's midrise apartment addition makes me cringe... smh

I can't wait to see this beautiful beast built! & At a mere 900 ft, it's CERTAINLY going to be a change in the skyline!

Because the Scotia Plaza tower is 902 ft and it definitely stands out!

Construction seems to have stalled, was down there last night, things looked the same.

Podium level work appears to be the focus at this time.

^ Perhaps down at streetlevel they've slowed down a bit but they're still busy at it up on the 11th (?) floor, pouring concrete.

That's highly disappointing then

Because I've always wanted to go to Toronto because it seems like it has some pretty tall buildings.

I mean I felt like New York was small in the pictures, but when I got there I was amazed how huge the buildings were when you were up close to them..

I hope Toronto is the same way when I go-- I hope I won't be disappointed

There are certainly areas of the core where the buildings are absolutely monumental. It's when you start walking up Yonge north of Dundas that the scale drops off dramatically. In 10-20 years, it will likely bulk up substantially but Yonge is mostly 2-3 floor modest Victorians. It's not what a lot of people expect for the main street in Toronto.

It's busy and chaotic, but it's largely low rise.

However the towers on Bay Street do make their presence felt on Yonge, even though they are a block away.

It's a nice contrast walking south on Yonge you have these 2 Storey lowrise businesses, but right behind them the towers on Bay street loom ominous from behind. It's cool!
