/\ That would be nice. Same with a Delta ATL flight. Mind you, there is also a WJ Charlottetown flight up there, and that is far from likely.

Wow

Photo's look awesome! This takes EIA to the the next level, the tower and hotel will be some great icing on the cake.
Can't wait to use the international area.

Without one...well lets just say its not on the standard as other major Canadian airports.
There is a pay-per-use lounge at the end of the curved portion of the terminal but it wasn't open. The what looked to be like entrance was covered by basically a large black garbage bag. The description near the entrance mentioned that the lounge would be 2 levels as well.

The gates go up to 88 but i saw a plan left by one of the workers showing gates 90 and 92 which i assume could be added in the future.

As well, it is difficult to get a feel for the duty free shop from my picture but you are basically forced to walk through the duty free shop to get to the US gates. One of my pet peeves is people chatting it up in the middle of an aisle and depending on how busy this area gets i could see people shopping in the walking lane so to speak. I guess time will tell.

Someone had mentioned to me that the flight information displays were a combination of real and non-real flights. The one thing i found weird about the displays is that they alternated between sorting flights by time and then by destination. Does YEG do this currently? I have never noticed this at YEG or other airports.

Maybe those flights are some goals?

Based on what you said there will be a pay-per-use lounge in US hold. I wonder who the operator will be? The Plaza Premium lounges appear to be in domestic and international. Anyone know? This could be hint as to flights or airline commitments. We know its NOT a Maple Leaf Lounge.

Great pics, LO 044! I'll post some of mine later today. Our "flight" was Delta 9709 to Atlanta around noon, no baggage. EMS was also at one of the gates (Gate 84?) doing a simulated passenger emergency. Decent boxed lunch and we loved the Leeds backpacks we got afterwards. Interesting to see the departure hallway go right through the Duty Free store before entering the food court area at the far end...Overall good impression of the new terminal expansion, bright & airy, lots of natural light, moving walkways OK. Bench seats with the extensions for your feet look good for sleeping in. We brought our laptops but were disappointed we weren't able to connect to the EIA wifi for some reason...

Edmonton Airport simulation brings out a crowd

By Bill Mah, edmontonjournal.com January 28, 2012

EDMONTON - Approximately 1,000 people arrived at the Edmonton International Airport with plane tickets and bags in hand Saturday — but never flew anywhere.

The mock passengers were community volunteers helping test operations from check-in, screening and customs in the airport’s newly expanded terminal before a new U.S. departures area opens on Feb. 11.

It’s part of the airport’s $670-million expansion project, rolling out in phases since December and into the fall...

Lol, "the two towers"....

One on Mount Doom and the other in Isengaard...? Did you have to go through the mines of Moria to get there? Any Tolkien fans....? <crickets chirping>. Ouch! Tough crowd.

Nice pics. When will the txborder gates open? Soon, I hope. I fly out toward the end of Feb.

Awesome looking expansion, happy to see YEG step it up to the big leagues. Next up, North Terminal! Would be nice for domestic flights to have the same level of comfort as the US passengers.

Hope I'll some day be able to use this new terminal, never been to the States before!

The piles of rocks & fill we drove by across the road from JetSet Parking kinda looks like Mordor, but it was too light out to see the rotating Eye of Sauron on top of the old Barad-dûr...

YEG hasn't done this up to this point. Larger airports, such as Toronto, do it because, so long as you know where you're going, your flight might be easier to find.

Further photos have illustrated this is beyond a 'WOW' factor now. EIA have done their homework beyond the Nth degree. Every nooks and crannies is used with pragmatism and thoughts. My Americans friends will definitely be envy of this- even New Yorkers. Thank you 'Sky Daddy.'

For those who may have done trial runs, do you know if those overnight-stay seatings recline? If not, can future trial candidate(s) find out please?

Let us do further prayers for NY> and Amen!

Reviewed again, the seating delima has been answered. Unless, they pull out to recline/bed. That would be ultra icing to the cake! Please double check anyway.
