The one project there is Osborne North (at Osborne and York) I believe....does anyone know if they've landed any tenants?

I've seen the sign sitting there advertising the project for forever now...it'd be a great surface lot to fill up.
There's a large housing component to it too. Maybe it's exclusively housing? Wish they'd get going on it. The housing market is strong.

Oh, I didn't know about the housing component. I had renewed hope about a year ago when it looked like they updated their rendering, but I'm thinking it's going stale now.

Website for the 226 Osborne project:
http://www.226osbornenorth.ca/

Hasn't been updated for a long time. This project has been in talks for a long time. They have Winnipeg free press articles on their site from the summer of 2005 and from the summer of 2007 talking about their plans for the site.

Who knows if it will ever get going

Nope...that parking lot is owned by the WCB. Those people would freak if there precious parking lot was taken away (i heard there was a panic at WCB when the WCC expansion plans were released - they thought it was their parking lot).

I have heard that the owners have been encouraged by leasing opportunities and there is a good chance it may start in summer.....i know it has been around for a while but i guess i am an optimist.

I see. That's disappointing to hear WCB "freaked" at that thought. I take it there have been proposals to WCB to do something with that lot but nothing ever transpired?

So the entire expansion + hotel I can understand taking place on that lot...which what I assumed. Given how much the WCC wanted to expand, I though it would take up the whole lot. So it might only take up half that highlighted space then?

What about the proposed additional developments? Would the additional development might take place further south on that lot (and be of similar size to heritage landing's highlighted area) or is there a different lot in play?

The rendering looks amazing! They better go through with it. If not office, at least apartments...

Just to be clear, the WCC expansion WILL take up all of the lot to the south of the existing WCC. For the rest of the development you just need to be creative.

I remember back in Grade 10 when the final design for the CMHR came out. It was my inspiration for my Drafting ISP for that year, back when I wanted to be an architect. Those dreams were shattered when I realized physics were a necessary part of architecture, alas I had no choice but to set course for a new dream.

What's the next new commercial high-rise for Winnipeg? And how tall will it be?

Can someone point me to the website for the University of Manitoba's photo inventory of heritage buildings? My googling skills are suspect apparently. Thanks.

For me, I've been drawing buildings and stuff since I was a kid. Sadly, I cant afford University which cuts me out of Architecture (nevermind that I'd have to go back to High School for the courses), but the transit driver reccomendation from someone on here (I forget), might actually be a possibility! Just gotta get my license, maybe take a ride with Kinguni or someone on CPTDB (Canadian Public Transit Discussion Board; other forum im on), and then possibly decide.

The MPI South Lot was a part of the overall RFP for Development process. We will have to see what developers propose i guess. A pitch could be made for both lots or just one......we all know that the more popular lot is the west lot.
