Really? I kind of like them, they give off a maritime feel, like shrouds holding up a mast.

The building looks great, I just don't get why the spandrel on the corner sections couldn't have been the same dark blue as on the rest of the tower.

I'm with you here. My only gripe with this building is that the top isn't more developed. Is the crown supposed to be lit?

Otherwise, it's everything I like. Tall, gorgeous design, colourful, and even has a grungy utilitarian aspect to it (ie. the wires).

Why aren't there any pics of this beast on its Wikipedia page?

I agree - it screams "under-engineered".

Those support wires on the upper fin balconies give it a "raw" look. Oh well, nothing is perfect. (anyd maybe people won't notice after it is open for business)

I don't see other similar kinds of buildings going up around the world with the same sort of slack jawed "solution" to the upper balconies like that. I'd be happy to be proven wrong but really I cant think of anything at all that resembles this at all. Anyone care to chime in? and no Suspension bridges don't count

Cables are rational for cantilevers and can look cool in a Richard Rogers-style high-tech aesthetic. Except with the Georgia, I agree it just looks inconsistent with the other balconies.

that looks good and is used for the whole building. fine by me. but just to do the top 8-10 floors and not proportional in anyway.... awkward!

Because it's a blog that basically reposts information gleamed from other corners of the internet without proper attribution?

Does the mere "source: MLS" at the bottom of the blog post count as attribution? Just asking as I wonder if you think that is enough.

Personally I don't think that's enough.

A link to the source should be the bare minimum, whether it's the URL to a thread here or to where the original material comes from.

I mean, we source out everything we find here and this is just a discussion forum. Interesting how the blogger community has such strict rules about attributing credit for images used, but content is apparently free game.

Fair enough. What you're asking for doesn't take much extra effort.

My friend she's a blogger. She says most of the info comes from press releases. Same with news outlets they get their info from press releases. Journalists hardly investigate anything these days.

I like vancitybuzz they do great photoshoots of local ladies

Also they mentioned they were renders I think. I know you guys know everything about what goes on but the general public looks to blogs, that's why they repost and I do believe they sourced it, but no link to the MLS page. That's not cool.

The missing panel on the Howe Street side of the crown has finally been fixed - not sure when that happened. My photo, today:
