Why do we need 3 different floors for observation decks? I think 2 is quite sufficient.

I don't see how the resteraunt was to difficult. I think it was just a poor excuse for not wanting to spend the money for it

The Port Authority believed that a restaurant would have been a money loser.

At least they could integrate a few small restaurants up there. They have 3 floors to work with to make the very best out of, and they better do it right.

There isn't an elevator to service anything up there. Maybe Two World Trade Center might have something.

The Port Authority mentioned that the observation deck would be open in summer 2013 so we will wait and see.

That's the schedule. If steel isn't there two weeks from now then we would be off course.

The same elevators that would work for the observation decks will be also work the small eateries. I'm not talking about full fledged restaurants, just a small food court in one of the floors,like the original 2 WTC had. I don't know what they are planing for 1 WTC, but I hope they realize that people aren't just gonna visit for the views. Like one of the posts had said before, this will be New York's largest obs deck and is expected to have many visitors. I just want this to be awesome.

I highly doubt it. The Empire State Building has no restaurants at the top, but it has an observation deck proving that it is successful, and if I remembered correctly the South Tower eateries and bars also had an elevator for that job which the new One World Trade Center doesn't have. I think the best hope for any restaurant would be at World Trade Center Tower 2 since you can change the design to include a service elevator, and since the top floors passes the 1,300 foot mark it would offer the same views as the Windows On The World Restaurant in the North Tower had.

This is interesting. Coming home from work, I walked past two *HUGE* flatbed trucks with steel parked on Barclay St Near the WTC site. Could this be 1WTC steel ?

Yeah, I read somewhere that around this time, the sunspots are most powerful. That positively factors in with temperature. Solar flares are more frequent for certtain weeks in an 11 year solar cycle. This is one of those weeks, and hopefully a warmer environment will speed up productivity. Sorry if it's off topic, I just wanted to explain why the weather's been so nice. Thanks. Yes it might. If it's steel headed and parked at the site it will be raised sooner or later. The Port Authority reported that they have been having trouble with the wind up there, the lack of steel arriving from DSM, and the trouble with moving the worker trailers higher and higher up. This is what is causing the delays to One World Trade Center.

In the original WTC, the Top of the World observatory had at least one snack shop. I would be VERY surprised if the new WTC's observation deck didn't have one. You don't need a massive service elevator, especially if they serve pre-prepared food.

That's what I'm saying. Food can be prepared up there. At least a vending machine would suffice. In fact,let me stop until we actually get news of what they are planing and then I'll make up my mind.
