I could care less if this project is constructed. The Wilshire Grand Hotel is no gem but it's still density, I wish they could have constructed this project on any of the eyesore parking lots just a few blocks away. The smaller tower is nice but the larger one really fails to impress. Especially for LA's new tallest, the design does not deserve the status the crowned US Bank Tower currently holds. US Bank rightfully stands as LA's tallest with it's postmodern design and centerpiece location. This skyscraper is just a bland glass polygon, what's up with that lame spire?

I hope the design for the taller one evolves in time!

lol i would have to agree it does seem too bland but like you said things tend to change and hopefully this does evolve into something that can wow the crowd in a good way and hopefully the height will change a couple hundred feet too lol just to make it significantly taller then the us bank tower

If its going to be the new "signature" tower that pretty much represents LA shouldn't its appearance matter ?

C'mon now, LA is one of the largest megacities in the world, it needs a tower higher than US bank tower.

I love this project, it seems that it will go underway too not too far off.

Well the fact that LA has trouble getting this built shows just how far the rest of the world's megacities have fallen off their rockers with supertalls. With the exception of New York, none of the supertalls built in the US during our many boom periods were big sucesses. In general I'm not sure supertalls are financially sound investments.

Maybe. Really, as you indicated, it depends where they're built.

But from your ideological perspective, it's not up to us, or the government, to decide whether they're economically viable...... right???

Not for much longer, especially as the national media learns more about the 30/10 initiative and what it means for America's second-largest city.

Soon, every tower we build will be noticed.

Just looking historically, property booms always end badly. Both the people and the government often take a good thing too far. There's no real way to stop it, other than to warn the bigger you built them the harder they fall. I'm all for tall towers, but obviously it's stupid to build one in a middle of a desert, or 10 of them in one city in 10 years.

While it is not technically a supertall as it is only 297.5 meters tall Comcast Tower in Philadelphia has been a big success. It has been 99% leased almost since it was built and even during the down turn vacancy rates in Philly's office market stayed relatively stable.

lol i mean obiviously theyll be posted here lol i know that but just checking . . . i guess just hopin somebody forgot or somethin lol and yea i agree LA does desperately need it and o ok wow starts soon huh ?! hopefully way before the end of the year as its planned . . . last time i checked anyway
