Now 88 Scott is an example of something vaguely interesting going up in the city.. More of that and less of Karma/90 Harbour please.

88 Scott is ok, but I like 90 Harbour/1 York better.

143 metres for a 40 to 42 storey condo is actually quite tall.

Below is a quote from SSC of the source of the rumour of the 5 storey increase at One Bloor:

Agree. I'd rather that Karma/90 Harbour remained vacant lots till a proper architecture firm was hired. 88 Scott is miles better than either of those duds.

Same here, I'd rather they remain vacant like One Bloor was, rather than being stuck with —-itecture like Karma & 90 Harbour in perpetuity

What's with the arbitrarily-arranged punched window grid? 88 Scott has the same misguided PoMo aspirations as Trump, albeit without the downright offensive onion dome.

True, but that's not what Trump's main failings were;

------------------------------------------ Trump --- 88 Scott
Random floor heights -------------------- YES ------- NO
Poor choice of spandrel color ------------ YES ------- NO
Large blank wall at ground level ---------- YES ------- NO
Stone that looks no better than concrete-YES -------- ?

As for Trump's onion dome, some people find it tacky, others think its the best thing the building has going for it.

Here is a new model of the Telus towers (the office tower plus the residential tower, which is 135 meters tall.)

Not bad but it looks much better from the reversed angle.

I hope 88 Scott is the start of a new design trend. We've got far too many glass boxes with no articulation in this city, what we really need is something along these lines;

A PoMo creation, which is just about as fine of a piece of architectural work as you'll find anywhere imo.

I agree, but it will fill in this corner of the city very well.

This would have been the perfect location and context for the Shaw Tower typology, with fat office floorplates for the first 10 floors, followed by small residential plates up top. "
RE: Vegeta Skyline

Why on earth would Toronto want to follow in the footsteps of second-rate cities like Atlanta or Charlotte, much less from their 80's architectural stock... you're creating a false dichotomy with the "no more glass boxes"... there are other styles out there

Who said anything about Atlanta? (but for the record, out of the 6 PoMo skyscrapers +500ft buildings in that city I'm only a fan of 2)
I'm not suggesting a return on mass to the dominate style of the 80's. But a little more diversity wouldn't kill us would it?
And afterall PoMo is the generation that brought Toronto, at least arguably, its most renowned skyscraper - Scotia Plaza.
