Northwest may be the corner least likely to raise howls of protest from residents - although there aren't many residents nearby.

BTW - for the raindrop effect - I expect a very, very long version of the blue lighting features that were installed around Yaletown during the Olympics, which could look tacky.

On the other hand - if they appear like the raindrop lights (which tend to "fade" out) on the big Xmas tree at English Bay (you know, the big live tree decorated each year) - it could look good - but I'm not sure if they could incorporate that "into" the curtain wall.

The LED lighting of the crown is depicted in the original rendering, and the white LED lighting of the original hotel has been installed, so I think it's safe to assume that the raindrop effect will be installed eventually.

Doesn't matter if they live nearby or not; they'll still complain. I'm sure a petition has already been drafted and the raindrop will be killed as fast as the lighting on West Pender Place and The Capitol.

I hope it is installed. But the above reasoning makes little sense.

Forgot to mention the construction elevator came down the week before Christmas. Also metal awnings are now attached to the balconies giving it a more finished look.

From many angles this building looks like a 700 footer. Hard to believe it's little more than 500.

One building where they messed that up is the Pivotal (now Vision Critical) Buidling next to BC Place.
Busby apparently wanted to make the building appear shorter, so it used a double-height grid on the building - but that ended up making the building look incredibly large and bulky.
