In Vancouver, there seems to be some kind of resistance to be daring in many aspects of design. There is some kind of creeping Presbyterian conservatism
desite the exceptions of parts of YVR and certain outstanding buildings.

However throughout the city there is often the feeling that more could have made out of this or that project or building, but was not.

Kind of a let down, at times.

I don't see how that is inspiring or different. It looks like it was designed by a Vancouver architect.

Tough crowd. It's a beautiful building. Maybe not the craziest piece of building you've ever seen... but a nice, modern building, way nicer than any Concord POS {save for The Erickson}.

Love it.

But people are already going 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 over the new (much smaller) Telus screens outside BC Place, so we already know what the response would be if this was outside Sears or any other public space.

'world-class city ...'

Love it!, but remember, this is Vancouver, so fat chance. (PS - This is what should be built at the south west corner of Robson / Granville, not that boring 🞵🞵🞵🞵 they are putting in).

Exactly. This is Vancouver, with a powerful influence of Scottish Utilitarianism woven into the collective psyche, plus a mantra that says "green and earth tones, green and earth tones green and earth tones..."

Developers are are either cheap and install bland, cut-rate stuff, or else they're sorely lacking in imagination and above all, unable to think outside the box.
