That would be how they would do it, the new tower would be on the corner of Colorado and 3rd street.

Congress Boutique Hotel

I noticed a orange debris chute on the back of the failed boutique hotel on Congress between 4th and 5th today. I got all excited until I got the binoculars out and it looks like they are re-roofing it. There is a lot of material up on the roof.

I'm still pretty upset that hotel fell through. I was really hoping to see a new cool building go up along Congress. I'm crossing my fingers for the Bosche-Hogg building with the music venue. It would be awesome to see an Ace Hotel pop up somewhere in downtown Austin

Already have! I also wrote Seaholm suggesting that, but they said they aren't having a hotel there anymore. Someone else write Ace!

So what are they going to do at Seaholm? Are they not going to have any tower on that site at all?

Good I am glad there is still a tower planned. I hope its the same one that we saw in the most recent rendering, that looked to be over 300 feet.

By the way this is pretty cool:

Love how it says Austin is the trendiest part in Texas.

I was sitting on my deck trying to see two twin Austonians and what I was seeing in my head looking at the skyline was not nearly as bad as what I thought it would be.

I had kind of assumed maybe that was you that did it. The person who made the change was named WMayes.Ya me too! Been going there since.. well forever I guess. lol. My parents always take my sisters and I on our birthdays there and all of us always order the same thing, flautas. lol. For 30 years now, and that is still the only thing all of us ever order. I would really miss it.
I think I might post a pic with twin Austonians here when I get a chance, looking for a dt pic from the east to work with. Not crazy about identical twins idea though. A taller or even shorter slender version might work for me. Something that would tie in to the original architecturally. I would have expected since the 360 sold out so quickly they would have broken ground on a second tower by now if it was feasible so I imagine it would just be another what if pic with the Austonians.

Good to hear about Gables II. I wonder if their will be any other buildings start construction before the Marriot does. Does anyone think there are any projects that can get started before the summer?

Well, according to this (eight-month-old) article…

http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/print-...ammell-dirt-may-turn-in-q1.html?page=all

…things may be kicking into gear by summer at the Green site.

The money is certainly starting to flow again, especially for apartment projects, and 2nd Street is finally hitting its stride, so I wouldn't be surprised by some kind of Green announcement this spring.

^I hope you're right but I hope they don't downscale it or change the architecture too much. It seems like a staggered approach would be the best to keep all of the density rather than trying to do it all at once and lowering the heights.

I think it'll be fine as long as they don't suburbanize the buildings street level with huge setbacks and palm trees...I've never seen that, it's just a fear I've always had with residential high rises. I won't hold my breath, but I am still very hopeful either Seaholm or Green breaks ground this Spring/Summer.

Seaholm seems more probable with the Library and Wall going up around it. BTW, does anyone have renders for that wall??

Hey I love palm trees as long as they use the native Texas Sable Palm, I think it would look nice. Other than that I agree with you, no setbacks please, and make it very dense and urban.
