Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan
Saskatoon, SK

Recent winner of the Canadian Architect Award of Excellence, it was designed by Bruce Kuwabara of KPMB Architects. Construction is slated to begin in 2012. The gallery bears the name of the local Remai family after the family's matriarch donated $30 million to the new gallery, the second largest donation to an art gallery in Canadian history.

Simple, classy, timeless. Much like our Ceramic Museum in Toronto that has won numerous awards.

I like the theater but I'm not too sure on the condo tower designed using a preschooler's crayons.

crayons are more vivid thats more like colour pencils

Agreed. It took me a while to warm up to the Art Gallery of SK's design, but I've grown to really like it. It's going to look great nestled on our riverbank.

It's fun, and they can always be painted another theme later.

Those new detailed renders of the North York developments (especially the podiums) look much promising then the initial renderings.

They are nice but safe, and we have plenty developments like it. It's good to get a few out there designs to break up the street-scape a bit. Montreal seems to get it as they have thrown in punch's of colour around their city that look great. People seem to be afraid of colour and others complain we don't have enough, no building will ever be a win win but I bet when this one is done it will end up as the background for many a picture.

Did you even read the article? It wasn't canceled because it was "too wild for conservative Toronto", it was "canceled" because it was never a real proposal to begin with.

The podium looks quite sharp imo. The tower on the other hand is too glassy.
