hmmm that's interesting. I'm assuming the coupons would expire before A&F would be open here though? Unless it could be used online? Still, odd that they would give that out when the closest store is 7 hours away...

It's very possible that the store could be larger than normal for a couple of reasons:

If Apple is seriously interested in HSC, it's possible that they chose the 7000 sq. foot space because of lack of other space in the mall
Most cities with Apple stores have several locations. I'd guess that this location would be the only one in the HRM (and possibly the Maritimes), so they might have chosen a larger space to create a larger store for the entire region.

This is just me thinking on the spot, but for some reason I have a hunch that it will be Apple. Like you said, icetea, time will tell.

Apple would be most welcome. I'm in Halifax often enough that I could see myself making use of the geniuses in the store.

Not sure what it is, but I really don't think it will be Apple. Doesn't seem like a prominent enough location for them. As long as I'm thinking of the right spot, the one tucked away next to Sears?

Take a look at this PDF: http://www.20vic.com/1109pdfs/HALIFAX%20SHOPPING%20CTR.pdf. Look on the top floor beside Sears. I'm assuming it will be the three spaces east of Sears? (otherwise I have no idea where 7000 sqft would come from) Cole's must be relocating... Anyways, it looks like a prime space from this view.

But I thought the article said that HSC had renovations "underway"? When I was in the mall on the weekend there was a calendar store where the sony store was, and cole's is still open. Maybe it was really meant that they will begin reno's after xmas?

Oh... I haven't been in the mall in a few months so I don't really know. I just can't understand how else they are getting 7000 sqft.

This elevator? Does it go directly from the store on the second floor to the store on the first floor? The map in the .pdf is inconclusive to me because it just shows it on one of the levels but not the other. I was thinking it would be cool to have an elevator between Hollister and Abercrombie(if we got it). If the elevator just goes to some loading tunnel than the idea is flat anyway.

It appears to me, from those schematics, that elevators are denoted with the abbreviation "ELV". I suspect that the areas labelled as "EL" actually refer to electrical service rooms, rather than elevators. It's the simplest way to account for instances where features on the map fail to line up.

As for Abercrombie & Fitch having a local phone listing in halifax... That could be explained by the fact that A&F's Canadian corporate operations are legally registered in Nova Scotia due to favourable tax regulations. No significant amount of corporate administration actually goes on here, but they're legally registered as a Nova Scotian company, and have been so since their very first expansion into Canada back in 2005.

What you said makes a lot of sense. Odd that when Icetea93 called the phone line nobody answered. Should have some sort of answer if they have offices. At this point we just wait and see.

I don't think it is a number for their office, as it is listed as in HSC (7001 Mumford Road). The office is located at 1959 Upper Water St. I don't think they would advertise it as a store when it isn't. Plus, this advertisement added a bunch of promos and deals on Nov.14 2011. I'm assuming it was just added to YellowPages very recently. Although, why they would be added before they are open at all is odd. Maybe they wanted to have that domain or something?

According to ANS, there will be an Apple store opening soon in the Halifax Shopping Centre.
