Maybe on the back half of that block on Colorado. Other than that spot, and the Congress side of the block I can't think of where it could go, that would be next to the current one. If it is on Congress and they take out Manuel's I am going to be very sad.

Of course, all a big 'If'. Honestly I highly doubt this. Not saying I don't believe you NYC Horn, but just that it is hard to see happening.
I hear you regarding Manuel's. Been going there since the week they opened in the 80s!

While I don't think there will be a twin tower, its not out of the question that there will be another tower built on the same block that the Austonian is on. If I am not mistaken the empty lot next to the Austonian along 3rd street between Congress and Colorado is owned by the same people that built the Austonian and there was an article I remember reading when the building was under construction that did mention that a second tower is planned in the future for that site. I don't think its gonna be real soon but it is not out of the question at all.

whoa, that's actually pretty sick. Wish is was big enough to be a background without being distorted.

Lol, I just checked to see what Austin has for its picture and it looks like someone on here had already taken care of it and updated the picture.

And it's already been taken off due to copyright violation.

I saw it! The Statesman has it copyrighted and is selling 5x7s for $12.95. They'll frame it for "only" an additional $89.95.

Calling: "Where is the General to make one of his famous pictures when you need him most..." =)

I was sitting on my deck trying to see two twin Austonians and what I was seeing in my head looking at the skyline was not nearly as bad as what I thought it would be.

That would look pretty cool. I'd want to see some slight changes in tower II though.

I noticed these holidays the Austonian had its fancy lights up top turned on again. I think if the second one had different colored lights and they did something along those lines, it would be fine.

I think part of the fear of twin towers is they would be over dominant. The skyline would look like Corpus or something. lol. I just don't see that being possible in Austin.

Not all twins are identical. They generally are birthed at the same time though.

Yep...chicken flautas with verde sauce, sopa de elote as an appetizer, best chips and salsa in existence, and great margaritas.

Twin Austonian?

I think it's neat to hear people go back and forth on the twin austonian....

I will know more in the coming weeks, but I will tell you that I was shocked when I heard it from someone who may be working on the project.... If it is true, then I am guessing that it will be very similar to the Silverstein twin towers in new york in mid-town.... They were offset slightly and reflect the skyline off each other at a diagonal angle.... Very clever... There were several twin tower designs for residential towers in New York.... central park and west side highway in particular.... But... if they do build a 2nd Austonian, I imagine it would have to be very close to the original tower but diagonal.... This is a big if!!!! Based on a conversation with someone who is connected to the project.... but I still will only believe it when I see it.

hey those two towers don't look entirely bad. i'll admit i kinda like it but i scratch my head a little with the austonian as having a twin. not sure its as nice or will be as nice as these two.

While I have my own economic doubts about this as well. It would be a very smart thing for the developers to do. The open lot to the north could be developed in a way to totally block the views of many pricey condos from the Capitol. If developed sympathetically, ( offset with the same curve) it could work out for all concerned. New tower.... and keep more value for the original Austonian tower.
