They had the entire Mississippi; there are still cities in Wisconsin with names like La Crosse, Trompeleau, Eau Claire, and Prairie du Chien (which we pronounce as Prae-ree doo sheen).

Well, at least we have Arkansas to make fun of. As a state, Missouri has fallen pretty hard when it comes to vague things like "state reputation." Missouri was one of the more urban states at one time, essentially Ohio-lite with Kansas City and St. Louis. St. Joseph was twice the size of any city in Texas in 1900.

Boo hoo I guess.

I'm sure most educated peoPle from WiscOnsin would disagree, but Missouri is sort of like an upside down hot doppleganger of it, with more Germans and trout than anyone up there ever thinks of

Boxing Day is such a weird holiday. It just feels wrong. Like it shouldn't be a holiday or something.

I guess this is what Black Friday feels like, except that no one got pepper sprayed, as far as I know.

Edit: Someone did get pepper sprayed. In Winnipeg, no less! My prediction: The hottest accessory of 2012 will be a can of pepper spray.

Over the past four months I've become accustomed to the finest of Polish chocolates with no less than a 2.5% alcohol content, so imagine my surprise when I had a Hershey Pecandoodle for the first time yesterday afternoon.

Not only is the chocolate crap (when you've spend a while eating regular food, the taste of high fructose corn syrup become really noticeable), but there were barely any fucking pecans in the whole pack. I wouldn't be surprised if they have one pecan evenly distributed between three doodles.

What has America become?

And the suggested serving is 4 doodles. What an odd number! Four!

Seriously, everything in the US nowadays seems to be made with high fructose corn syrup instead of sugar. Its disgusting.

Thank god for things like Coca Cola imported from Mexico.

Buckeye, how's the weather in Phoenix these days? I've heard it's been rather cool (15-18C). It's hit the double digits in Calgary recently, so maybe it won't be such an adjustment this time around.

Supposed to be in the upper 60s/lower 70s Fahrenheit

Or, um, about 18 to 22 C?

We still on for Wednesday?

Calgary was too warm, but other than that, it's been pretty great.

So... Seattle-Miami(ish)-???

I know, right? I'm glad someone else caught that. At the 2000 Census, a little over 27% of people claimed German ancestry. That number was nearly 43% in Wisconsin, and the two states are similar in size. Hell, Wisconsin is so German, we should be surprised it hasn't annexed Chicago. And, there you have it; I'm going to hell.

Yesterday I saw that Harbor Frieght has pepper spray, one of the very few things in the store not made in China. Maybe I should stock up and wait until it becomes a hot item, and then unload on eBay with a 100% markup.

My first impulse to a response was to say 'too many Polacks' and then I thought about it some more...

Well done, sir.

My city has more Germans than Poles but you never see anyone talking about their German heritage here. Polish people, however, run everything. Most of my street is owned by Polish people. Polish halls all over the place.

If Wisconsin ever invaded Northern Ontario (and considering I know several people from there, it has already begun), I'd have to leave. I can barely consider Wisconsin a state, let alone an empire.

In 18 to 22 degree weather? That's t-shirt and shorts weather in Canada!
