Same, btw is there any plans to develop that small lot beside Cork & Co. on E. 3rd & Congress looks like someone could build some sort of project there. Also they could build a small Park in front of The Austonian.

Are there any fountains, waterfalls or other water features in downtown Austin? If so, can someone post photos.

ah shucks. I never saw that. That "for sale" sign was like seeing an ex lover with someone else. OUCH. it's really too bad. Out of all the new projects, that was the best looking IMO.

no thanks to the starbucks on the W. i hope Jo's, Cafe Medici and Austin java really show that place it doesn't have a chance. I so very much hate that place. It just seems so generic for this area.

Me too. I was very surprised to hear this. Hopefully it's just a bad rumor. I was also told Sirius radio is opening in the W on 3rd and Guadalupe...apparently they'll host live shows/broadcasts.

I think they may have some sort of deal to broadcast shows at the Moody Theater but I don't have confirmation on that.

These I guess would be the most well known ones. Oh, for waterfalls and a few more amazing waterfalls check out or do a flickr search for the Zilker Botanical Garden. There are some fantastic photo opportunities for waterfalls and stuff there, so some great pictures you can find or go take

Edit: Oh and for water featurs there is the pools at Barton Springs and Deep Eddy. Deep Eddy is on the west side of Mopac on Town Lake so not really Downtown. But lots of people from Downtown go there, so... =)

If you want pictures of them just ask and I'll take a look and see what I can find. I love searching for pictures of fun stuff like that. Flickr is a total addiction to for me! =D

E-waste recycler building Kyle plant, could create 180 jobs in next two years

Published: 8:57 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011

Image Microsystems, an Austin-based electronic-waste recycling company, said Wednesday that it plans to build a new plant in Kyle to turn e-waste into the substrate material for street and highway signs. The plant could create more than 180 jobs in the next two years, the company said.

The company is renovating a former Palm Harbor Homes manufacturing site at 3700 Kyle Crossing and turning it into the first manufacturing plant for MicroStrate, its patent-pending rugged plastic sign material.

Liz Walker, the company's vice president of marketing and business development, said it has won incentives from both the City of Kyle and Hays County to rebate property taxes on new equipment and sales taxes generated from the plant for five years. She said the company does not yet have an estimate of the value for those incentives.

In return, the company has agreed to create 131 full-time jobs next year and 50 more jobs in 2013. The company also has agreed to invest at least $3.4 million in property improvements and new equipment at the plant.

"Image Microsystems not only brings quality jobs into Kyle, but also brings in a company with a strong sense of community and a commitment to the environment," Kyle Mayor Lucy Johnson said in announcing the city's agreement with the company.

Word on the street is that Schlosser Development has secured permits for the new tower to be built immediately east of Whole Foods. The last rendering I saw a few years ago showed a 28 story mixed office/condo tower - not sure if things have changed. Do not know anything more than that.

My pleasure.

That is a very beautiful fountain. It is on campus and is the south entrance to the South Mall. Where University Ave ends and the mall climbs up to the main building (UT Tower). Here is the google map.. http://g.co/maps/u9zsd

Here are a few more of that fountain. Starting with one of the classics with the tower lit up and a big 1 meaning we won a national championship that day.

Now that we are approaching the new year we should be hearing some more development news.

There are a couple more fountains downtown proper. There is one on the north side of 6th street a block and half west of Congress. There is also a fountain at the corner of 4th and Guadalupe. Also a cool water feature (living stream) in the parking garage stair well in city hall. I imagin we'll see some new major fountains coming with the Waterloo park redesign and Waller Creek refurb. And I might be wrong but I though there was a water feature on the east side of congress between 1st and 2nd. Oh yeah... and a fountain near the first street bridge on south side of the town lake hike/bike trail.

By the way... great to hear the rumor re Schlosser - hopefully they break ground in Jan/Feb. It was a great looking building.

I've always loved that space. I went to an AISD art show two-ish years ago in the lobby just inside. It was very well put together and interacted well with the inside space and had magnificent interplay with the natural lighting reflected from the water.

Yea it is for the lot right there on the corner of 5th and Lamar, there is a sign up there showing the building. Im not surprised it will be 3 floors. There are pretty strict height limits that they have placed for that area as to not upset the OWANA crazies.
