Looking through Monday's City Council agenda is a report discussing when and how the parcels in River Landing Phase II will be sold.
- The first parcel, Parcel 'A', is the former PEDCO site and is proposed to be sold spring 2012 through a request for proposals
- The sequence of the other parcels' sales will proceed in 2014 and 2016, giving due consideration for the timing of the Victory Majors project so as to not negatively interfere with demand for that project
- The report also notes that the final construction contract on the Phase II riverfront is anticipated to be complete by the end of the 2012 construction season

Report starts on page 78 of the City Council agenda.

The report recommends sale of the parcel through a public tender process, not an RFP.

heard a rumor today of who is replacing Googies in the old sunlife / now affinity building on 4th.

Any guesses? I'll give you a hint. We current have MANY of these downtown!

Saw photos of the new cathedral and it really is lacklustre in every regard. The only cool thing are the abstract stained glass panels which remind me of a cool Canadian textile designer. The details are pretty minimal and the trussing in the roof was the only thing for me that could save this project and well it's nothing fancy, it's what is required to hold it up, nothing innovative. Sorry for the negativity but I just felt this project had MASSIVE potential and it was really wasted.

That's great news about the gallery! It really is a masterpiece and shows Canadian aesthetic very well! Subtlety and detail! It's pretty much a no brainer we should be saving the trees! Toronto is a concrete oasis and NOTHING grows, it's really quite sad. Saskatoon is incredibly lucky to have so much lush greenery in the central part of the city. Everything should be done to ensure this is maintained and expanded.

We only have 2 Starbucks downtown... haha.

But that's sweet. They always attract people. The newest one in the city, on Louise, is always packed.

agree on the church KGC. Seems an unfortunate tendency here to have a grand vision and then let cost saving measures turn it lackluster.

Construction activity is ongoing on the main floor of the 2nd Ave Lofts.

Through some of the glass I noticed progress on walls being framed in, as well as for sale/lease signs for the commercial space. I wonder if they're breaking the space up in to smaller spaces in an attempt to finally lease it all? There's room there for quite a few shops, though I have a feeling the eventual tenants will lean more to the commercial office side than retail. However, with the Centro Office Lounge and Fiat Studio in there already, there's potential for a cool mix of businesses there.

As far as I know they're putting doctors/lawers/dentist/ type stuff in there, but there is still space that isn't spoken for I think? I can't remember what they said at the meeting, I'll try and get more info tho.

Section of Traffic Bridge could be chopped

If the City of Saskatoon isn't able to lock up funding soon for a new Traffic Bridge, a section of the bridge could be demolished as an interim measure, the city's infrastructure manager says.

"That is definitely an option on the table if the funding of the whole project looks in peril," said Mike Gutek, the city's general manager of infrastructure services.

"It would get traffic moving."

The span of the bridge on the east side of the river that is over land could be pulled down for between $300,000 and $350,000, he estimates. [...]

Stoons always loooking for more bridges eh. Reading that SP article makes me glad regina dosent have long spanning bridges like yours. Seems like those maintance costs can really add up. Is this bridge a seperate project from the circle drive bridge project?? Think you would secure funding before you start
