Paid attendance: 8,362

So armed with these numbers, I think 60,000 is a reach.

19800 is a number for in the round which means that all the bowl seats can be sold. Most concerts are not in the round which means that one end of the arena is empty/backstage area. Not to mention comps, blocked seats, and other things you are probably looking at 15000 max. If they are lucky.

The question remains, regardless of the bickering on theoretical ticket sales here, should the city be willing to wade into the same fiscal shenanigans, a la Sir Paul, the mayor said he would be willing to preform again?

But these are one-off shows with only a handful - literally 5 at most - of international acts that can get these crowds. And I doubt the numbers would be as high if there were more than one show of this scale per year.

I read an article where the manager of the ACC in TO said that the vast majority of big music acts are limited to 20,000 - 23,000 in ticket sales no matter who it is - and they'd rather a sell-out at 23,000 than always extra seats at 30,000. Another reason that the Garrison grounds is a more appropriate place for permanent concert infrastructure rather than the Common.

Well what about big concerts, Ben, who plays Rogers Centre? “It’s rarely used-Stones, U2, Coldplay and ACDC play Rogers Centre. There is a reason Bruce and Sir Paul play ACC, not Rogers. Because that is how big they are.

You get Coldplay, I could see 80,000. But the Eagles did not do 80K at that site, they did 40-50K, and Bon Jovi did just over 20K.

I guess you could do the Garrison grounds at a higher price if need be to get the act..........and then we are talking about a real ampitherter...The Boss could still get 60,000 at the commons.....first and last time here plus possibly last tour......

Those Moncton attendance numbers are estimates from the promoter, the city, or the media. The same sources who said McCartney drew 50K. Take them with several grains of salt.

The city and TCL released the actual sales numbers during the concert scandal, saying the contractual privacy no longer mattered because PPE was out of business. I can dig up the press release if I must, it was emailed to me too. These numbers, reported by the Coast, are from the sales audit provided by Ticket Atlantic.

The sales reports by most promoters are exaggerated, for sure. As KP says, Sir Paul was reported up at the high end of 36K and the actual sales were 10K less.

BEP was reported 21-22K and the sales report was 9K. This was in part because PPE gave away 11K complimentary tickets to make it look full.

I don't think the exaggeration is as bad for the Moncton shows. Different companies, more professional, international companies. But it would still be there a bit.

Seriously though, I had nothing to do with this particular article so I think I can comment objectively. The figures for the Moncton concerts I believe are valid. In particular the Rolling Stones and U2 figures seem right. The others I'm less sure about, but I see no reason to doubt them. The Moncton concerts have always been professionally done and under the direction of the late, great Ian Fowler, I don"t think anything misleading would have been said.

This concert is actually taking place at the Metro Centre.

And don't put down the old rock! I was born after most of it was written but I still respect classic rock more than any other genre of music. Not to mention they actually had skill. Most artists today put so much technical bs into the sound of their music that behind it all their really just talentless boobs lol.
