From my window (telephoto) - a couple of days ago I took this photo. As of today the crane is assembled. As you can see it will be a few months before I have any significant photos to share from this view.

I noticed today the pilings at the site so I got off the bus on Market Street and took a few pictures. The second photo shows up close the machine that turns or screws the pilings into the ground - quite a fascinating operation. They are not pounded into the earth as I've seen in past construction.

Peanut Gallery - work on removing the foundation of the previous structures continues. There are lots of machines doing the job today.

Across the street the old Merchandise Mart is getting a new energy efficient roof and more. There is work going on there from the basement to the roof. It will have the highest energy efficiency green rating when done.

Very cool, thanks Jerry! I read something the other day about Twitter's updating of the building to make it much more energy efficient (on SFGate, I think). Very interesting stuff.

Insane amount of rebar in those shots.

Looking at Rem's latest, I notice the porta-potty with the lifting bars attached right next to the crane. You just know they guys are dying to lift that thing out of there when the forman has a seat!

According to J.K. Dineen of the S.F. Business Times, they did a big concrete pour last Friday night:

Just before midnight on Feb. 10, they sprung into action. One after another they rolled up to the construction site at 1188 Mission St., where Angelo Sangiacomo is building phase two of Trinity Place, a 1,700-unit Central Market apartment complex.

A total of 300 trucks were emptied as the vehicles returned to the cement plant after dumping their load.

I walked by on Thurs/Fri and the site is starting to rise above street level. Looks like columns of rebar starting a story or two below ground rising a story above street level.

Looks like the elevator core is being made. There is steel columns of rebar now above ground level.

I walked down mission earlier this week, and along mission, right next to the first building, it looks as it some form of ground level flooring has been installed.

Separately, does anyone know when the demolition of the old trinity buildings along market are scheduled to take place?

Trinity is still renting and collecting income from the remaining portion of the old hotel building; it won't be vacated and demolished until they proceed to the next phases of the total project sometime after the current building under construction has been completed.

BTW, I can't wait to see the front portion go, not only because it's ugly, but also because the new building will restore the proper property and building line along Market Street.

^Me too. This, Crescent, and hopefully one day City Place will make a huge difference in the look and feel of this whole stretch of Market.
