Well, I always say, if you are going to have wishful thinking make it worth while! LOL! ... alas, there is no way the good folks at AMOA have their stuff together that much. Hate to say it.

So that block was intended to another building for the folks at Novare/Andres Urban, etc. Anyone know if that happened? Or are they still partnered? ( Jude??? Are you lurking?) It involved the post office buying property on Red River to move the office. Hum.... wonder what happened whit that property? ( Parking garge accross from North end of Stubbs block)

Why do they never have a line down lamar and manchaca to the south. If this line was made at least in south austin it would be very useless after benwhite.

And it's kind of strange having the double line on the east side. You would think the SoCo-Downtown-Capitol-UT line would be doubled up, if anywhere. I understand this is a fanciful concept. Good to get people thinking about it, I guess. I've long thought a subway below Congress would be preferable to a light rail.

You do realize that this map is just a piece of eye candy and that "they," meaning transportation professionals, the City and Cap Metro have nothing to do with it... don't you?

Having said that... wouldn't it be cool if we had even 1/2 of this?

What amazes me is the fact that the company/person who makes up these joke subway maps is actually selling some at $20 each.

A few construction pics of Hyatt Place and old Whitley printing site, conveniently situated next to each other. BTW, is there a name for the building on the Whitley site? Or should we continue to call it Whitley?

Taken from the city parking garage, Whitley site. Smaller Hyatt site with the crane barely visible from this angle.

Ya'ay! Another crane!

Thanks Priller.

Also, I don't know if that new site has a name or not. I assume so, but everyone still calls it the Whitley building. They should keep the name if they can. It is pretty good and everyone already knows it as it had been there for ever and ever. =)

Yeah, I like Whitley. While we're in that area of development...does anyone know if the design has again changed for the JW Marriott on Congress? I wasn't sure if they altered it since its upgrade.

I haven't seen anything new design wise for the JW. I am wondering if they upgraded it a in Sept, and just never told anyone. That last design they put out in Sept was fantastic. A gazillion trillion times better than the original one they had.

If they do upgrade the design I hope they keep some of the features I liked off that Sept design.

Edit: this is the one I am talking about... http://www.hotelnewsnow.com/Articles.aspx/6351/Austin-Texas-Unique-in-spirit-hotel-development

I believe that design is the final design for the hotel and they changed the brand to a JW to reflect the more luxurious design as well as larger hotel rooms ect...

The 360 condo developers (Novare and Andrews Urban) bought the downtown post office site:

So Novare is still alive and kicking, I see. The 360 was very successful, so I'm looking forward to another project from them.
