I wouldn't necessarily agree with this. A number of their locations look like bunkers. Two close to us in fact:

SouthCentre in Seattle

They still look better than the Sears building. I'll take a brick fortress over that oppressive, filthy white monstrosity any day.

OK, I'll rephrase - "tired "old" building facade ... associated with Sears (or Eatons).

If I were Nordstrom, I'd at least want to differentiate my part of the building from theirs.

Regardless of Nordstroms' other stores, if they do secure the Sears building it will be overhauled. And it isn't their call on re-doing the building, Cadillac Fairview has been wanting to redo the building for years.

It's the securing the Sears building that is going to be the difficult part.

My personal fear is that Walmart will try to get their hands on this location. They dont have a store in downtown Vancouver. The Supercentre store in Victoria's Uptown Centre is two storeys so why not go for a six storey location.
This may sound absurd but anything is possible. I hope good sense prevails on the part of Cadillac-Fairview and this never happens. I am not even a fan of Nordstrom but I would be in favour of Macy's if we have to have an American tenant.

Replace the star in the Macy's logo to a Maple Leaf.

Cadillac Fairview would never, EVER lease that space to Walmart, for a multitude of reasons.

I can't imagine walmart would have much interest in it anyway.

Also... looks like the SW corner of the Urban Fare building has been leased for a Subway. There goes the neighbourhood.

The Chinese restaurant currently occupying the future Crate and Barrel space in Oakridge is closing up shop on Dec 26th. Guess we'll start to see work begin in the new year.

Actually, that is Downtown Portland Nordstrom, not Washington Square (which is a mall).

I can also confirm that Nordstrom is very actively looking to enter the Vancouver market with at least a flagship store. ... More to come once I know and can say.

Izzue has been putting up ads for both hiring and promotional purposes in Chinese magazines and news.

H-Mart is still renovating.

The Empire theatres space in Oakridge centre will become Crate and Barrel. They have received approval for the design and it should be just over 20,000 sqft-25,000sqft including the Chinese restaurant.
