i never liked Mayor Shepherd, and i personally have met Walter Gray on many occasions (really nice guy), but i'm not sure if he's fit to be mayor for a 4th (or 5th?) time.
there might be a lot more hi-rise construction being approved, market willing, but i have a feeling there could be quite a bit more sprawl/big box development also.

With the new council, is there the possibility of re-opening discusion of the downtown re-developement plan? [the cluster of high rises between Hwy 97 and Bernard]

That would be awesome. Kelowna is in need of a defined core. The closest ya'll have right now is the Dolphins and Skye (and hopefully eventually Lucaya?).

I just lurked this entire thread and found it fascinating. I am currently moving from Kelowna to England but figured I'd get some shots of the city before I left.

So, it's not a construction update, I apologize but I figured I'd throw this out there.

All drawings approved and changes made Chad. Now a link for Kelowna will appear on the City Diagram Links page (tomorrow, after the daily update script runs). Good work on filling-out the Kelowna diagram.

Awesome. I was hoping somebody (with artistic skills, i.e., not me) would get around to updating these.

Icon isn't in the Kelowna skyscraper page.

I have never heard of it? Any chance you could link me to some info? I'll definitely make one if I can.

I also want to do Lucaya too, it shouldn't be too hard since the design is very similar to Skye.

Thanks a bunch Dylan!

Would you be able to add Manhattan II to the Kelowna skyscraper page? It's an 8 story office building so it should be around 40 meters tall.

I believe it is under construction but it may still just be approved, any Kelowna forumers have any insight into this?

Hope the Monaco and Aqua projects get past the proposal stage.
[too many proposals lately don't seem to get past that point in Kelowna]

Just stumbled across this forum, but I thought you guys might be interested in this.

The new downtown building heights plan that was recently approved:

And a list of high-rise projects in Kelowna from July:

Both are from the city's website.

^Excellent post. Thanks, Emtee.

They've zoned a lot of space for buildings up to 26 storeys. It'd be great to see some developers take advantage of it, and for their projects to come to fruition. Downtown Kelowna is still in the painful process of making it's core work. Obviously, more people living there is the key.

Here's to the future.
