In 15-20 years, the classic design will be considered an architectural gem, while the new proposal for 13th Avenue will be considered "so 2008" and really look dated.

It's not, it is for Keystone. My cousin is responsible for labelling all of the pipes. She spends her days crawling inside of them and writing the dimensions in each pipe.

All the Keystone pipe from Evraz is coated green.

Is this the same pipe line that Obama put a hold on or is this one different ?

Yes this is that same pipeline that was put on hold. Canada is looking at routes through the Rocky mountains now that will take that crude to the cost and be hauled by super oil tankers to asia. This is trans-canada, canad's second option if the US decides not to go ahead with 7billon dollar project. You think they would, it would create 1000's of jobs in an econmy that could sure use the employement

Sometimes it's not always just about jobs though. One could argue that the impact of the negative is equal to the positive on this project.

Fair enough, when I worked for a nearby trucking company a year ago, I asked what all the pipes were for, stockpiled at the same location, and was told they were water pipes. So I assumed these were likely the same...

Maybe someone didn't know or at the time the order was different. Regardless my company did haul some of these orders...

It's doesn't really matter which area has more reserves. You have much of Alberta's oil in the north but it's not headquartered in Edmonton, but Calgary. So it all depends which city can convince more companies to set up shop

Does the University have any major construction projects planned for 2012? It seems to have been quite quiet (construction related) with them of late. Was there mention of more student residents being built?

Can anyone take some picture updates of the Coronet Theatre land development as well as any other downtown projects/new stores. An outside view of the Lulu store etc.

I am back in Regina Dec 20th so I will be taking lots of pics when I get back. YIPEE!

I've heard some rumours of more residential at the uni. There is also a big project worth something like 50 million regarding the renovation and renewal if the college ave campus.

I heard that Indian and Northern Affairs Canada is to move their head office to Regina from Ottawa. They will take up half of the new office building announced for 12th ave and rose. Have a friend in commercial real estate that is pretty certain but can't 100% confirm it yet.

U of R defintitely has plans to build more residences - they just need cash from senior levels of Gov't. Although the U of R has the competitive advantage of "free" land and pays no property tax, contruction costs are sky high as we could be talking $30-50 million.
