Yikes! Count me out as a fan of 88 Scott. I mean what's with those randomly placed glass box things? I also think the whole "old meets new" sort of concept is outdated, and looks about as well executed as Trump. And finally, you get more annoying boxes and setbacks that lead to... a bigger box to top it all off. This looks more like the top of a condo in North York or something. Anyways, just my 2 cents.

I think the glass portion of the tower is awesome, but i think the historic part of it shouldn't extend so high up in the tower... or be non-existent except for the .

and i think setbacks are great, especially at those heights,

One thing this tower does exceptionally is how the tower rises from the podium/historic part below.

how tall is this thing gonna be again? 170-180m?

why do you guys think there is anything historic about the design of this tower? all of it looks to be to be very contemporary to me.

do you think anything that isn't glass must be historic revival?

The setbacks are reminiscent of the Art Deco Style in New York during the 1930's.

Plus, the base is actually a historic building, to a very mild degree.

460 Yonge comes in at 198 meters (Canderal Stoneridge)

198 meters should get this one to at least #12 on the top 25 list.

It's the exact opposite for me. I'm disappointed that they watered this done with glass. It's such a strong handsome base; I had high expectations for the rest of it. The old beauty of the base should have extended right to the top.

Yes, Bay st. shouldn't be the only north-south skyscraper canyon. I think it's inevitable. Once southcore, the Entertainment District and the East Bay Front are fully saturated with new developments what other location would be more suitable for increased densities?

Very reliable source at UT says that 460 Yonge will be 198.5 metres.

Cool! two "Aqua" knock offs in the same city! Plus Soho Italia in Ottawa is also quite similar.

Agree, as long as they're not all 100-250m. A few in the 250-450 m range would be nice.

so that is about the same as Montreal bell centre proposal... i was sure this tower would have 70floors what happened?

Actually, I believe the developer was originally planning 55 floors. So Infact they have increased the size of this proposal.

The development you might be thinking of is the Menkes proposal on Harbour. Twin 70 floor towers, which they are doing the rezoning for right now.

Other possible sites on Yonge street with 70 floor plus speculation:

- 1 Yonge (Toronto Star)
- 1 Bloor West
- Holt Renfrew (twin towers)
- Cumberland Terrace
- Yorkville Parking Deck ( currently proposed at 56/46)
- 197 Yonge Street (super tall speculation rampant)
- Yonge and Dundas
- 60 Harbour
- 45 Bay ( not on Yonge I know, but closeby)

There are places on Yonge deserving of towers but, for the most part, towers should be significantly setback from the street to preserve the mid-rise nature.

The Entertainment district has space for hundreds of new towers and the east side of Downtown thousands.

i completely agree. In fact, this tower is more Aqua than even One Bloor, because the roof is flat, and the silhouettes of the balconies are more random,
