The upper part is not a roof. It's a telecommunications ring.

It's a never endling story -> roof hight vs pinnacle hight... and you'll never find a solution which both sides will accept!

So lean back and relax

Edit: In Germany we got a word for discussions like this: "Schwanzvergleich" - who has got the biggest!?

I think the roof height should have been 1, 776 feet (year) and an antennae of 2, 001 feet (year 2001)

Still wrong. The roof is only 1334'. with a 34' parapet surrounding it.

Yea but the visual mass is more like 1400 feet or so, it has the impression of a building that tall.

It's slightly shorter and a bit wider at the top than Sears tower, which has an extremely dominating presence, so this tower should be insane aswell.

4WTC, a 300 meter box is quite a big building and will look pretty small next to this one, so it should be really cool once completed.

Indeed. In this case, those who advocate for roof height are concerned not just about length, but about girth as well. What can I say? They like their towers thick and meaty!

Unless there is access to the top point of it, such as the one at the Empire State Building, then no it doesn't count. Not unless you can go there like the spire at the Empire State Building. Still this building is the same height as the originals, and that is all that matters.

Port Authority Shows Off Glass For One World Trade Center

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - The public was given a sneak peek Tuesday of what the base of the new One World Trade Center will look like once it’s completed in 2013.
The new design for the exterior cladding on One World Trade Center features horizontal stainless steel panels behind vertical glass fins going up the 20 stories of the fortress-like base.

“They will reflect light during the day and the night and give the building’s base a distinctive look,” said Port Authority executive director Patrick Foye on Tuesday. “In the evening, the combination of the water and the lights on the memorial pools we think, frankly, will be picked up by the glass on the podium at One World Trade Center and it’s consistent with the overall aesthetic of the site.”
