Well,I guess they have a good excuse. And I'm also glad the floorspace the restaurant was suppose to be on is being put to good use as well.

The stupidity of the Port Authority. If they wanted to do that they could have killed the heavy numbers of mechanical floors up beyond floor 89. This is stupid and is a completely idiotic reason why. I don't think the Port Authority wants to put a restaurant up there because they are scared that people might be up there again on a 9/11 styled event and that lives would have been lost. This is a proof of cowardice and not the proof of a man, and what do they mean by competition. There are no restaurants in NYC that would be as high as the restaurant in One World Trade Center. Not unless if someone decided to build a skyscraper just as tall somewhere in NYC with a restaurant, and if a restaurant was so unprofitable then why would Minoru Yamasaki plan a restaurant on the North Tower of the Twin Towers when he built them. This doesn't make sense at all and I would petition to have a restaurant up there if I have to.

That is just not the case, you're letting your emotions go wild with this one. The Port Authority simply didn't think it was worth the cost. The facts tell them they can get more return per square foot with an office floor than a restaurant, so the choice is obvious. And even if (god forbid) the tower were to be targeted, lives would be lost on said floor no matter what. No agency as large as the Port would make a decision based on the assumption of "perhaps maybe possibly" fewer people would "possibly" be at risk. Money runs the world and the tower is business.

However, directly to the contrary of their "low-profit" claims, it is worth nothing that:
"In 2000, its final full year of operation, it reported revenues of US$37 million, making it the highest-grossing restaurant in the United States."
(According to Wikipedia)

Would be interesting to see how that compares to an office floor's revenue for the Port. A lot of interesting points for discussion about the restaurant on both sides. While we probably wont ever see a "Windows" in 1WTC, it would be interesting to see how adding a restaurant to one of the other towers would characterize them.
Hopefully there'll be a nice one on the grounds somewhere. (In the air somewhere, I should say!)

Floors 1: Lobby
Floor 2: Lobby
Floors 3-19: Mechanical or Fictional
Floors 20-63: Offices
Floor 64: Sky Lobby
Floors 65-90: Offices
Floors 91-93: Mechanical
Floors 94-99: Fictional
Floors 100-102: Observation Deck
Floors 103-104 or 105: Mechanical

Is this right? If not correct me.

Floors 20-41: Conde Nast Publications (2 billion for 25 years)
Floors 50-56: US General Services Administration (mid $50 dollars per sq. foot for 20 years)
Floors 64-69: China Center (Vantone Industrial Co.) lease is for over 1 billion dollars for 20 years and 9 months.
State of NY agreed to a 15 year lease for 415,000 square feet in 2006.

New York's Office of General Services plans to lease approximately 412,000 square feet.
More tenants expected to come...
I think 1 wtc should get Bank of America as a tenant. Just my opinion, I know they already have BofA Tower but still.

Companys still can lease floors 42-49 and 70-90. thats still alot of floors left to lease. companys scared of 1 world trade????????????????

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been on here in a while. I jetted to Africa to do some charity work and I didn't have internet there. Anyways, I am back to NYC!

Here is a pic of Lower Manhattan with the WTC soaring about the buildings from our helicopter:

No they aren't scared. It's just extremely expensive to rent space up there. The higher you go the higher your rent would be.

i heard that the year leasing limit for 1 WTC is 35 years. Is this true or you don't know or that i'm crazy???????????????.
What I mean is that if a company wants to lease space in 1 WTC, the amount of years they can lease, that space is for 35 years, they can't go higher. By me saying they can't go higher I mean that 35 years is the limit or maximum. Is this true or you don't know or that i'm crazy?????.

The agency’s financial staff had asked the board to amenddebt resolutions for some World Trade Center bonds by removinga $500 million limit per series and a maximum term of 35 years, according to a web cast meeting. this is from: http://www.oneworldtradecenternyc.com/on...ter-lands-lease-with-conde-nast-reuters/

You can't just post random pictures online there is something called copyright. You have to purchase your own camera and take your own pictures posting them on Flickr or else you won't last long here.
