I'd say leave it here. The specific topic threads tend to die off pretty quickly and this is interesting enough.

I have to agree with socialisthorde leave your posts here North_Regina_Boy.

Personally I like having one thread where I can go to get my Saskatoon construction and development news, views and rumors.

As a rule I usually keep my opinions to myself but really enjoy reading everyone's views and ideas.

........ and for all those lurkers out there don't be afraid to throw your 2 cents worth in. We would love to hear from you.

South Bridge

They are starting to pour concrete for the east side piers now. They are going to adjust the camera angle for a better view.

Saskatoon city report reveals traffic trends
8,000 more vehicles than residents and lowest public transport use in Canada are some of the data shown

Reported by Ashley Wills - News Talk 650 CKOM
First Posted: Nov 9, 2011 9:33pm | Last Updated: Nov 9, 2011 9:36pm

The City of Saskatoon has conducted a Traffic Characteristics Report to analyze how people commute, and use the information to improve infrastructure.

The data show there are 8,000 more vehicles in the city than residents, but Transportation Branch manager Angela Gardiner maintained that many of those vehicles are recreational and include "motorhomes, motorcycles, farm vehicles, [and] trailers."

The report also showed only about four per cent of Saskatoon residents use public transit, by far the lowest rate in Canada. [...]

Another chain that is in 9 provinces, but not SK.

They are looking for a franchisee in Regina, which tells me they already have one in Saskatoon.

Coras

We tried the Cora's in Calgary. Great food, fresh fruit and good prices.

Not a big fan of Cora's. People talk about it as it's something special - I didn't have that experience.

That building has been empty for ages! I hope this new restaurant is successful. It is very unfortunate that another recently opened restaurant in that area, Taste Legend, closed down earlier this year. It was one of the few restaurants in town to offer authentic Chinese food. It offered great ingredients, solid decor, and a well practiced Toronto chef. Hopefully, this new restaurant will have more luck. I really want that area to turn into something special.

Cora's is OK. Practically every item on the menu comes with a lot of fresh fruit, which is great... but the food itself is generic, slightly pricey, and the decor and service are the equivalent of Grainfields (if not worse).

I thought at one time our bus ridership was fairly respectable on a per capita basis... but ridership has been pretty stagnant since the early 80s... and according to wikipedia, there are only 11,000,000 trips taken a year. That's just over 30,000 a day. The 99 B-Line in Vancouver, on its own, gets 50,000 riders a day. :|

More Good News for Riversdale

Shift Development is expanding "The Two Twenty" on 20th Street W.

According to a post on The Two Twenty facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/TheTwoTwenty), they're expanding in to the storefront to the west.

Along with The Hollows opening in the former Golden Dragon, this is yet more great news for Riverdale!

(Image of the proposed expansion on their facebook page.... it's nice and colourful!)

Wow, Saskatoon really has to pick it up with transit. The city is really doing nothign to encourage transit. If something isn't done soon major costs will be incured trying to remediate traffic congestion.

^ Knew it wouldn't take long for you to chime in on that point. I agree though.

On the bright side, we have above average numbers for cyclists and walking.

what? Is it still on 20th street? A friend and I went to eat there last spring and it was closed. The urbanspoon website said the business had shut down (now it doesn't). New ownership?

Starting Thursday, November 10 in the late afternoon, traffic will be re-routed onto the newly constructed westbound lanes of Valley Road, as part of the Circle Drive South Project. This detour will be in effect for approximately eight months.

Traffic heading to the landfill will use the new Landfill Access Road entrance, west of the temporary entrance patrons have been using since summer.

This detour will be in place until July 2012. The detour is to allow crews to construct the new access ramp to Valley Road from the new Circle Drive overpass.

I was just out there a couple hours ago and they were in the process of moving the pylons from one section of road to the other. It appears that the "new" section of valley road is really just the old section that they have been repaving for the past couple of months.

Also, work on the city yards has re-started as of a couple weeks ago. They're in the process of laying roads and levelling ground right now.

It's quite exciting seeing the circle drive poject make progress.

I'm not too sure, my girlfriend introduced me to the food recently, I've never been to the restaurant.
