I would take that. Anybody want to photoshop a 25-story tower there?

The time lapse video looks alien, almost like a giant spider.

I like the taller one personally. A tower that tall would help towers in the foreground (such as a convention hotel tower) fit better into the overal skyline. Not that the symmetry of a city's skyline is terribly important, it's just an opinion of aesthetics.

I also like the taller one. If we want to fill in the center, let's do it with taller buildings than the ones we already have to create an almost pyramidal shape.

I would love to see a building like that on our skyline.

I agree that the tall tower looks out of place right now but that really is the center of the city and deserves that tallest tower possible. Once the Cascade at CCC goes in and the Zions property across the street gets a tower and maybe a convention center hotel goes in somewhere close they should peek there as the natural center.

Right now it looks like a doughnut hole. If you put a stick in a doughnut hole it looks funny but as tall buildings go around it it will look much better. If you don't fill in the hole with the right building we will end up with a permanent depression.

This is what I want to see in 15 years.

Cool thanks. That's a lot of concrete!

The video almost looks like it is from the perspective of an insect on its back with its creepy legs curling in.

Random question. Where, if there even are any, where are the forum threads on Reno and Las Vegas? I can't find them on the mountain west forum, or any place else.... Thanks.

Anybody know if this development will retain the Commercial and Savings Bank Building (the red sandstone building at 22 East 100 South---where Martine is)? I haven't been able to tell from the renderings. I can see that the hideous D-News building is there, and the hideous former Old Navy building on the corner is not, but I can't tell about the awesome building between them.

Regardless of current plans, the CSB Building needs to stay.

That building is registered. They wouldn't be allowed to tear it down if they wanted to.

I think it would be easy to mobilize against any plan to tear that building down. Everyone loves it. When the project is financed with public dollars the public has a lot more right to have direct input.

This is from the Utah Performing Arts Center website. As you can see, the Tribune Building and the Sandstone Sushi building are not on the cutting block.

Also, we had a great little skyscraperpage meetup at the Pie Pizza with gemery (and his friend who is a girl; that's right we had a girl at our meeting), SLCdude, and jedikermit.

Cornhusker, as with many cities on the forum, Las Vegas uses the "Compilation Thread" on the Skyscaper Forum Link for the majority of their comment blogging. We tend to use it more for what it was originally intended, as a compilation of ongoing projects. We're fortunate to have so many outstanding and active photogs amongst the Wasatch Front Metro.

Here's the link: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/forumdisplay.php?f=87

So does this mean we're losing the Metro Building?
