I'm amazed how much better that looks, and how dirty the marble was.

The good news is that glass should stay clean for 40 more years...

Easy maintainance!!

I dunno how I feel about the podium being reclad... its not that the glass looks bad, the marble just had a nice touch. Surely it couldn't have been that difficult to simply replace the old marble slab with thicker ones that wouldn't have deteriorated as fast.

^ Or you could simply replace the old marble with a more durable material that will match the rest of the entire building.

meh. glass doesn't have the same class as marble.
Having said that, its not the type of material you use to clad a 1000 foot tall building(almost).

Paint and new glass yes. As well a very expensive project, but no one cares because they are going to look the exact same once completed... just a wack load more energy efficient.

FCP is such a beauty. It's fascinating to see the difference before the reclad, and after.

Haven't had an update here in a while.
Some Pictures I took on Oct 31.

Almost there.

Looks like the podium is getting some new marble.

Can you see the difference between the old and the new.

Since there is no thread for this and I'm sure people don't want another Toronto thread, I'll put this here.
77 King West is getting a brand new look.

The tower is becoming black again, hopefully all the towers will get the same treatment.

Sweet! Thought they were going to skip out on the marble completely with the re-clad, good to see thats not the case.

Also, here's what was promised vs. what we got;

pretty close no?

I'll say.

Also, we got some weird green toothpick thing to the left. That wasn't in the render.

They will, all the TD centre towers are being recladded and painted. Only problem is due to the nature of the paint work it will take 4 years to finish as they can only work in very precise weather.
