It would be nice if someone could convince Sasktel to open up the blank wall of their black building on 12th and Lorne. That is the only other space on the plaza, although I have Heard Harvard is looking at a restaurant for the CWB space in Tower II.

Kiosks are another possibility. They are big in Europe.
I could be wrong, but tower 3 has NO storefront retail.

Yes it does. One along 12th and the other along Hamilton. Two CRUs and the lobby which will be programmed.

Anyone know what's situated behind the blank wall in the Sasktel building?

I was hoping something could be made of the law office on 12th and Cornwall. That would be the perfect place for a pub.

O'Hanlons and Beer Brothers are always packed. We could use another pub downtown.
It Sasktel main central office or in short co that's where we do all of our tucking and switching for city center north central and other near by neighborhoods . Lines from there go to all of the sac boxes or xconnects in the area we call them f1 also the isam for city center is in there too the isam is where your Internet comes from . If the city even tried to get them to move Sasktel would tell the city where to go and how to get there really quick lol lol lol okay maybe not lol

Yeah no chance of that opening up. But it would be sweet if they would install block long video boards in the windows so it was a bit interactive.

Center Square Plaze

There's a big Graham construction container sitting on the site of center square plaze. Hopefully this means construction is about to start. It'd would be ironic is this one starts before both Capital Pointe and Gardens on Rose.

I saw that the other day as well. Would be very ironic if they started construction soon. However, I seem to recall they said they weren't starting until the spring. Maybe they've already sold enough units to start?

A couple months ago I called about the penthouses (the only three bedroom units available) and was told none were available (there are four in the building).

Hey anyone know the status on Capital Pointe? The Leader Post had an article about the demolition of the Plains Hotel staring on Sept. 26, with the windows (glass) being removed, which it had started, but now it looks like work stopped. Just curious if anyone knows anything......... (i'm new to Regina so I know that demolition is about a year behind) but just curious.

There's also a separate thread for Capital Pointe. It contains mostly rants from us frustrated bloggers about progress on the project but you can read up on it there as well. Welcome to Regina!

Welcome. As you will soon learn, "Transition" is no longer PC. It is now the "Centre Square" Neighbourhood.

Western Potash just released their pre-feasibility study on their Milestone mine. The study says it has a net present value (after the $3B capex is paid) of $4.4B.

Although it is called the Milestone Project, it is actually just SE of Kronau just outside of Regina. Unlike BHP, Vale, Rio Tinto and K+S, Western does not have $3B burning a hole in its pocket, so they will need to find someone to back them.

Assuming a flat tax for royalties is a bit naive - would have taken them minimal effort to read the potash production tax regs and modeled something based on reality. This looks like a pump and dump - the capital pointe of potash mining.

Agreed that is simplistic but AMEC who did the study is a big time international Mining engineering firm And I do not think that they would risk their reputation with a totally unrealistic assumption about royalties. I thought the number looked low but I have not researched it.

To assume they haven't read the potash production tax regs is pretty naive. At this point (pre-feasibility) when all the variables (e.g., production, price etc.) that would go into such a model are assumed as the annual average over the life of the project there really is no need to 'model' the royalty rate as it will work out to the same rate over the life of the mine. A quick calculation shows that based on their assumed price of potash the royalty rate equals $0.057/$1.00, about the 'nickle on the dollar' that Mr. Lingefelter keeps talking about.

They will likely provide a more complex analysis/estimate during the feasibility study.

Flip

I got on as a server at Flip on Hamilton... And the space looks phenomenal. We are training and having a soft opening this week.. Come check us out when we open on Monday! It's an awesome open concept, with the bar and kitchen open to the dining area. The menu also looks fantastic.. Huge variety of wine and beer, and the food looks amazing...
Check out the pics on Facebook!!
