I was at Market tonight and noticed a permanent sign on the 2nd floor walkway for Ki - is that new? It also looks like the space to the west of Market is in the process of being fitted out at the moment - construction hoarding up, etc. Anyone know when Ki is set to open? If it's been mentioned on here I missed it...

It is supposed to open in November and will be a copy of its sister restaurant in Toronto, which is amazing!

The joint will basically clone the Toronto Ki (it means 'raw"), which opened at Bay and Wellington in 2005 and grossed $9 million in 2009. Then again, Aisenstat's Keg restaurant on York Street took in $13 million. Will the Vancouver Ki match its Toronto predecessor. "I hope so," Aisenstat said.

The windows into KI have just been papered over... so they must be entering the design phase.

The new installation for VAG Offsite is intense --it's HUGE! Not complete yet and they've already been at it all week!

So whatever happened to the square panels on the Shangri-La? I remember one poster who was in the know saying, before it was completed, that they had some special use and we should all wait and see. I haven't seen the panels do anything yet. Are they supposed to light up, glow, generate electricity, provide a green service to the building? What do they do?

^I think the exact opposite. It is more visible on an overcast day, while on a blue sky day the tower really blends in with the sky.
