This project might have "balls" but what it really needs is "brains." Hillbilly sums it up nicely, it's difficult to see this one as being remotely credible.

If you're going to spend that kind of cash on 48-storey towers, shouldn't you brag about how "iconic" the TOWERS will be? No one at King's Wharf is bragging about how "iconic" the marina's going to be. Or what about the water taxi?

I'm sure the lobby will be awesome. When I leave the lobby, I'll look up at the towers and think how ugly they are.

OKAY United Gulf: You need to talk about the development--not its gimmicks.

Give us more renderings.
Impress us.
Convince us.

Otherwise give it up already.

I don't really take this proposal seriously, the developer has had enough trouble getting smaller developments started, never mind something this size.

I am with Rye and Cormierjax - I have zero faith in this developer and after finding the 'I've been screwed by greater homes' site on facebook, I now have NEGATIVE faith in this guy. It sounds like he's way over his head and desperate from the stories I read in that group.

Do yourself a favor dude: give up, sell the land, let someone else go back and battle it out with council to get twisted built and be done with it.

Far Fetched

As much as I would love to see something that significant built here I have my doubts this project will ever see the light of day.

So the creators of Skye might have their heads in the clouds?

My theory is that he put this proposal out there to delay any decisions on the plot.

I really, really want them to prove us wrong.

This apparently fake project is something I was really beginning to love.
Just as the height of The Alexander would bring further visual emphasis to the density of the lower-lying buildings of the downtown's southern skyline--Sky'e height would have a thickening effect to the density of our 1980's office towers.

It would be really awesome, but the developer is a flake. I would be dumbfounded if he really builds this.

I'd be dumbfounded to see more renderings.

Instead United Gulf is talking about magic testicles.

This guy can't even break ground on Waterton II, a 12 storey condo building that has supposedly been about to start for 2 years now. You think he is going to build this? Haha. Waye Mason is right. Fake Project. Not sure what the end game is, but it won't end with two 48 storey towers. Just my opinion.

Oh Man, don't give them any ideas lol. There has been a few threads hijacked with the occupy movement. Or non-movement if they choose not to go to the Common.

Speaking of which, here's a way we can all occupy Skye:
http://occupytheurl.com/?url=www.skyehalifax.ca%2F

In jest, of course... Someone sent this around to an email list I'm on and I thought it was kind of neat. Occupy any url here: http://occupytheurl.com/

Did anyone notice that on the Skye website their twitter feed said the application has been submitted to the city?

If 30 homeless Halifax street kids executives decided to occupy the tents of the Occupy NS encampment citing it is their right to protest homelessness, what would the Occupy NS protesters do? What? Are they willing to share their tents?

Heritage Trust has been uncharacteristically silent on this proposal.
