Nope, not my imprezza, I managed to get all my photos yesterday without getting out of my car. As for the panels, they are made by Strescon on Glendale in Bedford/Sackville. They build them in their shop, ship them onsite on flatbeds (usually Mills Heavy Hauling) then their guys put them up on the building. I worked for them one summer, although I may not always like the precast look, they are very good at what they do and have a pretty slick operation.
Judging by the photos the white precast panels don't look too bad. I think they're at their ugliest when developers pick strange colours to mimic materials like sandstone (brown) or brick (pink). It also looks like these panels will be a relatively small part of the cladding of the buildings.
I'm looking over from my apartment across the harbour and it looks like there is some cladding on the base of the Keelson. If anyone goes by snap a pic.
In fact the plan is for the entire perimeter to be walkable.
Makes sense to add it in latter, so if/when the high water mark rises they can just jack it up. I find it interesting how the "ground floor" of King's Wharf is now 2 stories higher than it was before construction
wow, this is really coming along nicely. One interesting thing about living in Halifax now is that I rarely make it back over to Dartmouth so i only see it progress in large chunks. Its amazing how far this development extends the Dartmouth Skyline along the water. Can't wait for it to be completed so I can get a nighttime view complete with lights.
I took a couple of photos a few days ago. It's amazing how nice the area looks until that sketchy train passes by ... If only we could find a way to put that rail line to good use for the general public ...
