I was waiting for this end of Spadina at Queen to get some highrises. Make so much sense for this area to go skyscraper in a major way down the line.....

This looks great, very classic Wallman. Decent retail podium, looks great compared to the other lame condos on the strip. Will easily be the NYCC's best looking condo building, along with Dia. Also another critical step in the urban evolution of this strip.

The current tallest is 22 floors (residential) and there's a new building starting construction soon that will be just as tall. There a site downtown zoned for a 24 floor residential building so that will become the tallest when it gets built and I imagine that's as tall as buildings will get here for the foreseeable future.

One of the suburban municipalities may very well build something taller. A 28 storey residential building actually started construction in Langford a few years ago but was destined to fail. I know Saanich has plans on a pair of gateway towers which have been proposed up to about 30 storeys.

Currently the tallest building on Vancouver Island is in Nanaimo at 24 storeys and they have entertained the possibility of buildings up to about 30.

Victoria is not about tall towers, and I actually like that, i feel having 30+ story buildings in Victoria would take away from its great pedestrian, almost "European" style of density.

If not it would simply become a mini Vancouver (not that Vancouver isn't great!) but it is nice for the two major west coast cities in Canada to each have their own culture / flavour, and not simply be carbon copies of each other.
