Also, the steel is up for the strip mall opposite the new Sobeys (which has its foundation poured). I'm quite curious as to what stores it will contain!

When you posted this I thought that there had to be a mistake. Traffic lights at the bottom of that hill!!
Have they lost their minds! All they had to do is have an in and out similar to the Allan St. location. Whoever planned that either has no brains or in complete denial of reality. Wait until traffic ties up the Peter Pan corner and back to the Mall entrance and they will be unindated with public complaints. Maybe we should start now!

I think it is great. You can tell they will be widening the road between the Peter Pan lights and the highway lights cause the location of the new lights is quite far off to the side. All the need to do is reconfigure the peter pan lights so that it allows more than one direction of traffic to move at once.

Humm, I didn't notice that. I usually head home across the Peter Pan heading east so I can see the light poles to my left. Thanks for pointing that out. There might be a reason for their madness after all.

Now if only we can convince them to extend Spencer to Mt. Edward Rd......

So far I have "heard" that Sobeys, Petsmart, Starbucks and Quiznos will be a few of the tenants for the 12 new stores.
Sobeys and Petsmart http://pei.kijiji.ca/c-jobs-sales-retail...ETOWN-MANAGERS-NEEDED-W0QQAdIdZ317405432 are confirmed.

Would that not mean the province has know about this development since the re-did the peter pan corner. If that is the case, maybe this development was supposed to get off the ground before the recession.

Thoughts?

Good to hear that they are widening that stretch of road (It's Malpeque between Peter Pan and the By-Pass right??). It gets pretty congested at rush hour, hopefully the widening will help!

And like braymondg said, get those cameras out

Can't wait to see all the progress when I'm back on the Island in december!

Petsmart (12,000 sq. ft.) and Papa John's (1,600 sq. ft.) are 100% confirmed for Spencer Drive Plaza. They are the only tenants confirmed so far.

I was in Fredericton recently and I stopped at the Corbett Centre. I think the Spencer Drive Plaza might be similar to that development. It will be interesting to watch stores be confirmed as progress continues!

If they are alike, some stores in that area are The Shoe Company, Montana's, Panago, Deluxe Fish & Chips, Herbal Magic, and others with Bouclair and Best Buy coming this fall.

More info: http://www.trinity-group.com/index.php?q=node/135

In other news, the traffic lights at the new intersection at Spencer Drive Plaza are up and flashing yellow. The jams will not be very welcome...

Other tidbits:

-Apartment building on University Ave is going up quick.
-New senior's home in Montague is nearing completion.
-Garden of the Gulf Artefactory is very nearly done.
-Quite a few apartment buildings U/C in Stratford (Ducks Landing extension), Winsloe and East Royalty (other side of Oak Drive).

This is possible. Toys R Us is already in Halifax, Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton. Charlottetown would seem the next most logical market in the region.

When I read this, the little kid not so deep within me jumped for joy.

Toys R Us would probably bring in a lot of shoppers, because it is very much an attraction as well as a store.

A few more diverse stores like this and West Royalty will be a very attractive neighbourhood for new and younger families. WR will probably experience a lot of growth, ie. Clayton Park, Halifax after Bayer's Lake was built.

If only this many new businesses were going in the downtown area...

Actually Toys R Us is going in the West Royalty plaza which is where Sobeys currently is. Both are Plaza Corp. developments. A managerial staff person at the Sobeys told me this.
