We haven't thrown him under the bus... He's still one of us and I'll defend him (and his right to have opinions) personally until the moment that this site closes. I've gone back and changed the comment where I referred to his position as amateur. That was uncalled for and I will apologize:

JDawg, I really am sorry for that. Simply put, it was vindictive and mean-spirited. Please accept my apology.

I get that way too when I am in London or wherever. I'll tell you what I do and maybe it might help and you may like it too...

I join Flickr groups. Or follow them. And then I sign up for the RSS feeds of those groups to Google Reader that I use to follow blogs and new threads on this site. So when fun stuff is going on or someone has new cool pictures of Austin they show up. Like 20-30 new pictures of Austin a day. I do the same with UT and London and I get to missing them too. And the Hill Country. Here are some good ones that I follow...

Here is a recent picture I found totally awesome.

some quick snaps of whitley demo

I'm fascinated by building demolition and the temporary views/perspectives you can gain. Snapped a couple of pics of the Whitley paper demo. The folks at the Railyard have got to be reeling from this. They can't say it wasn't expected though.

hey thanks! people just don't understand why i miss austin so much, and i actually don't have a good reason either. but i've been doing youtube for quite some time, finding anything on austin. but then i find myself missing other things... and its odd, but you know what i truly find myself missing like almost every single night? it's those hotdogs at the stand next to red eyed fly on red river. i don't know why, but i'm always craving those! haha

and its also odd that san francisco's mexican food is quite mediocre in my opinion. there's lots of dishes that i can't find here that i could only find in texas. and those things are truly what i find missing a lot. then i miss my good old friends as well.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the Railyard. It was a bad project for downtown that adds nothing to the street, nothing for density, and (frankly) is hideous.

Certainly the Railyard has done it's time. But it was instrumental in moving people's perception of the area away from 6th, and opening that whole area to things "other than warehouse". I believe one block has already been sacrificed to build a wing of the Convention Center. It's just stick buildings after all. Certainly there are other housing choices now as well. I think they will fall (literally) easily as other buildings see the need to rise.

I like Colibri on Geary St. Been there quite a few times. Very good tequila selection, too!

But it's not Tex-Mex.

Circuit organizers still awaiting permits to build on foundations

Yet another hiccup for F1......

By Dave Doolittle | Tuesday, October 18, 2011, 02:38 PM

Contrary to a report about construction ramping up at the Circuit of the Americas racetrack in southeastern Travis County, permits to build on foundations at the track have not been granted, a county official said today.

The article says "the city hosted an open house for the public on the Seaholm District projects at Austin City Hall on Tuesday". Anybody go to that? I'm curious about what information was unveiled in said open house. Anybody know where the renderings can be found?

New Renderings for Green Water Development

Anyone have access to the most recent renderings for the Green Water Development? Are they going to be shorter than what was originally proposed?

NOthing new was presented at city hall this week in terms of renderings. There was a site plan, but no one could confirm it it was final or just in proposal/study phase.

Alas, we wait.

But the wait probably won't be very long. Construction is starting within a year, after all.

Yeah I'm still around. Just haven't had much to say/photograph lately.

I did notice this morning they're fencing off the parking lot next to the Hampton Inn. I can't remember which Hotel is planned for that site. A sign?
