Bargin Shop

The old Bargin Shop will be under renovations soon, and SARCAN will be moving into it. Their lease in their current location is up at the end of the year, and they don't have enough room currently.

1801 Broad Street, Regina, Saskatchewan
18,000 square foot office building redevelopment
5929 Rochdale Boulevard, Regina, Saskatchewan
66 unit condominium development
Yes I drove by Broad and 11th this morning and it appears they are expanding the building to the east and perhaps also to the south, in addition to adding a floor. Westridge is the contractor.

I happened to be in the Plaza last night after dark. All the lights were on. The twinkle plaza seems to be missing something. It is pretty dark with not much twinkling. The spaghetti shades look just like northern lights at night. The colour changing LED spot lights wash over them in waves. I am sure that this was the designer's intent. It is pretty cool.

I have a cell phone video I will try to post when I have time.

This is my crappy cell phone video. Twinkle plaza is at the start and Aurora Borealis shades are at the end. You have to go see it for yourself.

My wife and I were on the plaza last night as well, around twilight. We had the same impression about the spaghetti shades - the coloured lights washing over them and the waviness of the shades both suggest the northern lights.

I also found the twinkle plaza a little underwhelming. Instead of having all the lights off with just a few blinking, perhaps they could try having all of them on with some blinking.

We are definitely in a better position hotel-room wise for this upcoming Grey Cup.

So they are estimating another 300 rooms in 2 years. Are the any hotels under construction right now? There are mnay proposals, including:

Hilton - Capital Pointe;
2 hotels including a Sheraton Four-Points at the old Superstore site;
A second hotel at Harbour Landing;
Skyview area on Pasqua north
Kanosis on the east side

Am I missing any?

Moose Jaw has some proposals as well.

Not anything new, but here's a suburban condo development in harbour landing. I thought I would post it since it hasn't been posted yet.

True but by the time they go thought all the planing I don't think a 25 story could be built in time for grey cup

Very interesting indeed. And if this were to occur, I would think that they would have to build something PDQ as the optics of allowing downtown property to be demolished and then sit empty (rules against new surface lots) would not look good. Especially when the property is right on Victoria Park/the new square.

It's official. Harvard Developments has applied to the city to demolish the Gordon Block!
